The air was heavy, vibrating with a strange energy that twisted the senses.
A deep hum echoed through the ruined walls of Dr. Gero's laboratory — not mechanical, but alive, like the heartbeat of something newly awakened.
Rudra stood at the center of that chaos, his breath shallow, his mind caught between disbelief and terror. The creature before him — Cell — wasn't just powerful; he was wrong. Every instinct in Rudra screamed that this being should not exist.
Dr. Gero's grin spread wide, his wrinkled face gleaming with mad pride. "So, Cell," he hissed, voice trembling with triumph. "Kill this person before you!"
Rudra's spine stiffened. His eyes flicked to Cell — tall, emerald-skinned, his black wings folded behind him like those of a demon waiting to strike. His expression was almost calm, but the air around him rippled with killing intent so sharp it burned Rudra's skin.
Cell tilted his head, his lips curving into a smirk. "Understood, Master."
Before Rudra could even blink, Cell's left hand began to glow — a beam of energy condensed into form, shaping itself into a Ki blade, long, narrow, and radiant with lethal precision. The hum of its creation filled the air like a haunting note.
Then — he moved.
A flash of green.
A hiss of air.
Death, racing toward him.
Rudra's body acted on instinct alone. His thoughts vanished, replaced by pure survival. He twisted, his muscles screaming as the blade sliced through the space where his stomach had been a heartbeat ago. The energy seared the side of his outfit, burning through cloth and grazing skin. The heat was blinding — a reminder of how close he had come to being cleaved in half.
He flipped backward, his feet barely touching the cracked floor before launching himself skyward. Dust exploded beneath him, debris scattering as he burst through the shattered dome of the laboratory.
The cold air outside hit his face like ice, but it didn't calm him. His heart pounded in his chest — Boom, boom, boom — the rhythm of panic. Below him, the metallic ruins of the lab still glowed faintly from Cell's presence.
He didn't look back.
I can't win this. Not now… not against him.
The thought echoed through his mind like thunder. Every instinct he possessed screamed the same thing — Run.
He raised his right hand, two fingers half-trembling toward his forehead — but then stopped. He no longer needed them. The mastery of his Instantaneous Technique had reached a level beyond its origin.
His body flickered, the space around him warping like ripples on a pond — and in the next instant, he vanished.
---
Inside the lab, Dr. Gero blinked as the air rippled where Rudra once stood. For a moment, silence reigned — broken only by the hum of machinery and the faint crackle of Cell's energy blade dissipating.
Then Gero chuckled. "Heh… the rat runs."
But Cell didn't move. He stood there, eyes half-lidded, studying the empty air as if listening to something only he could hear. A smirk tugged at the corner of his mouth.
"Interesting," Cell murmured. "That was… instantaneous. A teleportation technique. Efficient."
He folded his arms, eyes narrowing with a hint of intrigue rather than irritation. "But it won't save him."
Dr. Gero's grin widened into madness. "Exactly! He can't hide — not from you. You can sense his presence, can't you? Track him. Crush him."
Cell's tail swayed lazily behind him, the sharp stinger glinting under the flickering lights. "Indeed, Master."
He closed his eyes.
The air shifted again. A wave of power rolled outward from him — invisible yet immense, stretching across the planet like a net. He could feel it: the countless sparks of life scattered across Earth. Tiny flares of energy — humans, animals, machines — all trembling like candle flames in a storm.
But among them… three stood out.
Bright. Potent. Familiar.
Cell's lips curved. "Yes… I feel him. And he's not alone."
---
Far away, on Master Roshi's island, chaos reigned.
The once-peaceful paradise was now a battleground. The ocean roared under the force of energy blasts, waves rising like walls of water. Smoke and debris scattered across the small stretch of land. The air burned with the scent of ozone.
Android 17 hovered mid-air, his hands in his pockets, expression calm — almost bored. Beside him, Android 18 adjusted her hair, unfazed by the destruction around her.
"You guys really don't know when to quit, do you?" 17 said, voice dripping with mockery.
Below them, Trunks and Gohan stood side by side, bruised and battered. Trunks' sword arm trembled, blood running down his temple. Gohan's chest rose and fell rapidly, his youthful face hardened by exhaustion and fury. Both of them glared at the androids with defiance that burned brighter than their strength.
Then — the world shimmered.
A column of light descended like a blade from the heavens, cutting through the smoke. The energy rippled outward, bending reality itself.
Trunks' eyes widened.
"Rudra?!"
The name escaped his lips with disbelief and relief mingled as one.
And there he was — emerging from the light, his aura flickering faintly. His face was pale, drenched in sweat. His breathing was uneven. Something about his presence felt… shaken.
"Rudra!" Trunks called out again, a hopeful grin forming. "You're back! Finally! With you here, we can—"
But Rudra didn't let him finish.
He landed hard, his boots kicking up sand. Without a word, he reached out — one hand grabbing Gohan's wrist, the other seizing Trunks by the arm.
"W-Wait—!" Trunks stammered, eyes wide with confusion.
"Rudra, what are you doing?" Gohan gasped, trying to pull free.
But Rudra's grip was unyielding. His face was set — not in anger, but in fear. His eyes darted to the horizon, scanning the sky as though expecting something to appear.
"Listen to me," he said, his voice low and urgent. "There's no time. You don't understand what's coming."
"Coming?" Trunks echoed, bewildered. "What do you—?"
The air crackled.
A sudden tremor rippled through the ground. The ocean shuddered.
Both androids turned sharply toward the sky, their sensors picking up a massive energy surge — approaching fast.
Cell's energy signature.
Rudra's face tightened. His worst fear was confirmed.
He's already found us.
There was no more time to explain, no more chance to hesitate. He closed his eyes, focusing all his ki inward. The energy built around them like a cocoon, shimmering white, wrapping Trunks and Gohan in its blinding light.
"Hold on," he whispered.
In a single instant, the world tore open.
The island, the ocean, the burning sky — all folded in on themselves, vanishing in a blur of collapsing light. The sound of crashing waves turned into silence. The scent of salt and smoke was replaced by something alien, sharp, and unfamiliar.
---
When vision returned, they were standing under two suns.
The sky was a pale emerald hue, the air heavy with moisture. In every direction stretched fields of green grass and strange trees with bulbous tops, swaying gently in an unseen breeze. Dome-shaped houses glimmered in the distance, reflecting the light of the twin stars.
Planet Namek.
