Lucien, an eleven-year-old British wizard who transmigrated from his previous life as a university student, attempts to board the Hogwarts Express by running through Platform Nine and Three-Quarters at King's Cross Station. Instead of arriving at the magical platform, he crashes into the barrier and is somehow transported to Atlanta, Georgia.

Disoriented, he wakes up on a deserted street surrounded by walkers. Before he can process what's happened, a horde begins chasing him. In a desperate attempt to escape, he's saved at the last moment by Shane Walsh, a deputy sheriff from King County.
