"What the..." Sylas breathed.
He shot to his feet, staring at the monitor. The video feed showed Evren, Ezrik, and the others standing unknowingly in front of the hidden camera. Behind them, something roared deep, guttural, and close enough to rattle the speakers.
"What monsters did they throw in this damn forest?" Sylas muttered. He spun around, grabbed his phone, and dialed Soren's number without hesitation. He'd planned to avoid her for the rest of his life… but clearly fate had other plans.
Soren answered immediately. Her hologram flickered to life, wearing that same smug smirk he hated.
"Well, well, well," she purred. "The runaway groom is calling me. Is this the end of the world?"
Sylas almost rolled his eyes. Almost. But there were bigger issues.
"Apart from the Hollowed, what else did they put in that forest?" he demanded.
Soren scoffed. "You seriously called just to ask—"
"Your brother is inside," Sylas cut in.
