"Willow!"
Indigo's scream cut through the trees as she ran to her friend. Her scythe slid cleanly into the Night Stalker's chest, the impact knocking the creature backward.
Unfortunately, it only let out a low, rattling hiss before yanking the blade out of itself as if it were nothing. But the hit bought Indigo the second she needed to haul Willow to her feet.
Sage was already firing at the creature but the fresh wound in the creature's torso sealed shut instantly, its skin knitting together like water pulling smooth.
"Are you okay?" Indigo's voice shook as she scanned Willow.
Willow nodded, though her arm was a bleeding mess, crimson dripping down her fingertips.
"Uh, guys? We need to move. Right now." Sage didn't wait. She turned and ran.
Indigo snapped her wrist, and the scythe jerked free of the creature's hand, flying back toward her. Willow grabbed the handle mid-air, the force pulling her as Indigo and Sage ran flat-out through the forest.
