Amid the ruins of Konoha, Kakashi pushed aside a stone slab and stepped out, surveying the devastated village. He coughed up a mouthful of blood.
Fresh blood flowed from his right eye once more. In the next moment, he released more than a dozen ninja—including the Third Hokage—from Kamui's space.
In the furious whirlwind that could tear steel into powder, Might Guy, having opened the Eight Gates, struck first.
After countering the first wave of force by redirecting his own chakra, Kakashi found an opening and used Kamui to trap all nearby ninja in his spatial pocket, preventing massive casualties.
Beside him, Might Guy, having unleashed all Eight Gates in a short burst, collapsed to the ground like a charred husk, utterly exhausted.
Seeing his friend in such a state, Kakashi felt an overwhelming sense of helplessness.
This wasn't a war. It wasn't even a fight. It was purely a one-sided massacre.
The entire sequence didn't last an hour and twenty minutes, nor a single minute and twenty seconds—it all unfolded in just 17 seconds. The orderly village he had seen moments ago was now reduced to rubble.
The few ninja on the scene exchanged glances, each seeing sheer despair mirrored in the others' eyes.
"Hokage-sama… what now? Konoha has been destroyed." Kakashi looked to the Third Hokage, whose condition was also grim.
Hiruzen Sarutobi had removed his Hokage robe, adopting a battle-ready stance. He opened his lips to respond, but a nonchalant voice rang out beside him.
"Yo, you're still alive, huh?"
In the distance, Byakuya strolled forward casually, hands in his pockets, followed by Sasuke and Orochimaru.
Seeing the ninjas' defensive stances, Byakuya remained calm. "Hey, no need to get nervous. I've blown up your entire village, but reconciliation is still possible."
"Just surrender, admit defeat, let Orochimaru take over as Hokage to lead Konoha, and hand over the likes of Hiruzen Sarutobi, Danzo Shimura, and the other culprits behind the Uchiha massacre—then we can talk about everything else," Byakuya explained.
"Never! You executioner! We will never—"
The next moment, the resisting ninja's head exploded like a watermelon, plunging the scene back into silence.
"Don't be so violent. Let's talk civilized. We're all civilized people here," Byakuya said, casually clenching his fist, leaving everyone speechless.
One by one, Konoha's ninja dared not voice their anger. This guy was a thug! A bastard!
Using sheer violence to "calm them down"? Completely unreasonable.
"Hey, hey, hey, don't look at me with the victim's gaze, like I'm some demon," Byakuya added.
"Uchiha Sasuke, will you just watch Konoha be destroyed?" Hiruzen Sarutobi asked, hoping to sway Sasuke and make Byakuya retreat.
"I'm only doing what you all did years ago," Sasuke replied coldly. "Thousands of Uchiha lives weren't worth anything to you. When our clan lands were forcibly taken, did you think about them then?"
"Whatever happens to Konoha today aside, the elders directly involved must die."
"And what about Itachi and Obito? They were the ones who acted," one ninja interjected.
"Don't worry. After I'm done with you, they'll join you. Once you reach the Pure Land, I'm sure you'll meet again," Byakuya said calmly. Then, before the stunned ninja, he walked step by step toward Hiruzen Sarutobi, several meters away.
Seeing Byakuya advancing, the ninja, despite their fear, once again stepped forward to protect the Hokage.
"Katon: Fireball Jutsu!"
"Raiton: Lightning Blade!"
"Doton: Earth Core Slam!"
…
Countless jutsus rained down on Byakuya, but he didn't dodge. He simply absorbed the attacks and continued toward the Hokage.
A massive fireball, tens of meters in diameter, enveloped Byakuya, scorching the air around him.
But with a flick of his finger, a powerful shockwave created a vacuum, obliterating the fireball and instantly annihilating the nearby ninja.
The ground trembled violently, about to rise meters high, but Byakuya's slow step caused the terrain beneath him to solidify like a continuous alloy, stopping the quake.
Kakashi thrust his Lightning Blade at Byakuya's heart, but it was casually caught midair.
Seeing Kakashi's Mangekyo Sharingan, Byakuya plucked a nearby ninja's head to block, then warped it into Kamui space.
Absolute domination—it was as if a superhuman had invaded a planet full of ordinary people.
These ninja, strong by normal standards, were powerless to stop Byakuya's advance.
"I'll stop you even at the cost of my life!"
Not far away, Hiruzen Sarutobi formed hand seals, eyes resolute, preparing the Dead Demon Consuming Seal. A ghostly white figure appeared behind him.
"A Shinigami?" Byakuya calmly stared at the figure, his steps never halting. The slow pace gave Hiruzen a chance.
The next moment, a phantom Shinigami arm, covered in seals and prayer beads, extended from Hiruzen's abdomen, reaching straight for Byakuya's torso.
Byakuya neither dodged nor resisted, letting the arm entangle with his soul.
"Did it work?" Hiruzen rejoiced, only to realize the hand, which demanded his own soul, couldn't move Byakuya's.
"Old man, you think our soul strengths are equal?" Byakuya said, respectfully yet mockingly.
Even Orochimaru's soul took time to manipulate in the book. Byakuya's soul had already reached the level of millions.
Seeing the old man's ashen face, Byakuya lightly pressed and twisted Hiruzen's neck, effortlessly ending his life.
"Only Danzo remains," Byakuya said, turning around. Mitoemon-en and Koharu-kun had already perished with Konoha earlier.
Killing the Hokage in front of all the ninja was an immense shock to everyone present.
"I'll give you one more chance to surrender. I normally don't waste words, but consider this an exception," Byakuya warned, then vanished.
'He disappeared again!'
Everyone's alarms rang out—they feared Byakuya might repeat Konoha's destruction.
Ten seconds later, Byakuya reappeared. Nothing had happened.
A shriveled head was thrown in front of everyone. "There. Danzo is dead too. How about you?"
