Chapter 161 - Preferred Company

"Felix!"

Felix turned as Jacob entered the boardroom, looking sharp in his slim-fit navy suit. He quickly set the duster on the polished table.

"I want you to accompany me to the global summit in the next two weeks," Jacob smiled.

"Why me?" Felix asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Because I need someone there to keep me sane around Lolita," Jacob replied, rolling his eyes. "I can't believe Renee won't revoke her invitation."

Felix shook his head. "Fawn should go instead. She's worked for you for five years, she loves travelling, and I don't. Motion sickness hits me hard."

"Oh, but I prefer your company," Jacob replied smoothly, his smile widening. "Don't worry about the motion sickness — we'll be taking my private jet, so it'll be a smooth ride. Besides, I'm a big fan of Quilter's Revenge. We can watch it together on the flight." His head tilted slightly. "You know, accompanying me on trips is part of your job, right?"

"Yes, sir. I'll be there," Felix answered.

Jacob gave a satisfied nod and left the boardroom.

Thirty minutes later, Fawn stormed in, arms tightly folded over her white blouse.

"I heard Jacob chose you for the summit instead of me." Her voice was sharp with tension.

Felix swallowed hard. "I really did try to convince him. I told him you've been here longer and that you love to travel—"

"I don't believe you," Fawn snapped, her eyes narrowing. "You'd rather I stay here mopping floors while you enjoy gourmet meals with Jacob on his private jet!"

Felix sighed. "He picked me because we both like Quilter's Revenge… the movie you hate."

Fawn stared at him, then grimaced.

"You know what? I'd rather mop floors than sit through Quilter's Revenge on a long flight."

She spun on her heel and marched out, her heels clicking sharply down the hallway.
