Miles thought for a few seconds but couldn't match a face to the girl in front of him.
So he simply stopped trying.
Maeve Lane unwrapped the candy, biting the lollipop, "Why did you take so long to come back?"
"There were a lot of people." Julian Fairchild said simply, blocking Miles' gaze, "Let's go."
"Oh." Maeve sucked lightly, her red lips looking extra plump and cute due to the moisture, "So, where are we going to eat?"
Julian's eyes deepened, his breathing a bit unsteady, "Just up ahead."
"That's pretty close then." Maeve didn't notice Julian's gaze; she still wore the tail ring he gave her on her finger.

Eating the candy he gave her.
Wearing the ring he gave her.
Going to dinner with him.
Having kissed him.
Having confessed to each other.
Julian felt a surge of satisfaction in his heart. Even if Maeve wasn't officially his girlfriend yet, they had somehow become so deeply connected.
