The cold wind was bone-chilling.
Even in Sea City, November brought a certain chill.
The taxi driver glanced at the girl in the rearview mirror.
Coming out of the airport without luggage and heading to a hotel, she wore a cold expression on her face.
A hint of sympathy showed in his eyes.
Trying to ease the tension in the car, he started a conversation: "Miss, where are you from?"
Ji Ning withdrew her gaze from the window and looked at him, "Anhe."
The driver thought for a moment and smiled, "That's a nice place, nestled by the mountains and water."
"There's no water."
The smile on the driver's face froze, and he forced a few awkward laughs, "Is that so? Maybe I remembered wrong. I went there quite a few years ago, and I've been to many places since, so my memory's a bit jumbled..."
"Take the side road at the next intersection."
The driver was startled, immediately turning the steering wheel towards the side.
Luckily, luck was on his side…
