The night was hazy.
The entire field had become a bloody slaughterhouse. A group of people huddled together, their bodies trembling, eyes filled with a look of despair.
A little girl, her eyes red, looked up at her father and said, "Daddy, I'm so scared... this is a dream, it must be a dream, right?"
Her father, a middle-aged man, had just witnessed his wife being killed by corpse beetles. Two of the insects had pounced on his beloved, a kind woman who didn't even have the chance to resist before her organs were torn out, leaving her in a gruesome state.
They had survived the darkest seven days, but just a step away from hope, they were separated by life and death. The man, with eyes full of tears, was born to an ordinary family, working four jobs during the toughest times, yet remaining optimistic and positive. At this moment, he buried his head deeply on his daughter's shoulder, crying like a child.
A dream?
He too wished this was a dream.
