The ninth type pertains to kidney Yin deficiency, with pathogenic obstruction in the throat, an indication of excessive fire due to Yin deficiency, and stagnation of phlegm and turbidity, obstructing the throat. The treatment should focus on nourishing Yin and reducing fire, transforming phlegm and dispersing congestion, and clearing the throat. Zhibai Dihuang Decoction with modifications can be used.

The tenth type, Yin deficiency with damp-heat steaming in the throat, is marked by overall Yin deficiency, with symptoms such as a red tongue, yellow greasy coating, thin rapid or slippery pulse, and red swollen tonsils with signs of suppuration.

The treatment should nourish Yin, moisten dryness, clear heat, and drain dampness. Sweet Dew Decoction can be used, which includes fresh Rehmannia, Rehmannia, Yinchen, Citrus Peel, Scutellaria, loquat leaves, licorice, Dendrobium, Radix Ophiopogonis, with the option to add Figwort Root, Platycodon, and Honeysuckle.
