From a rational perspective.
In a situation where there are large numbers of zombies rioting in the corridor, opening the door to save someone seems—
Just as dangerous, if not safe at all.
But from Lv Bai's point of view, this clearly reflects the brighter side of human nature.
Without a moment's hesitation, Lv Bai took a stride and rushed into the office, locking the security door behind him.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The zombies roared and howled, accompanied by the frenzied sound of pounding on the door.
That was expected.
After all, having a duck fly away, even the zombies would be furious.
Fortunately, the quality of this security door was reassuring, remaining sturdy despite the continuous pounding.
After confirming it was temporarily safe, Lv Bai had the time to observe the situation inside the office.
The office was quite large, with five desks, and an approximately ten square meter partition used for storing files and documents.
Though the office was spacious, there were only three males and three females inside.
Besides a middle-aged female teacher around thirty or forty years old wearing thin-framed glasses, the others were all students in school uniforms.
The three boys included a boy weighing nearly two hundred pounds, a sports student taller than six feet, and a bespectacled boy with a bowl cut.
The pretty girl among them stood beside him, and raised her index finger to her lips, signaling him not to make any noise.
Lv Bai nodded knowingly, listening as the sounds outside the door gradually subsided, his gaze settling on the last girl.
Her smooth black hair was tied into a high ponytail, with long legs under a dark green plaid skirt, estimated to be over five feet seven inches tall.
"Hey!"
Seemingly noticing Lv Bai's gaze, the sports student pointed at Lv Bai but addressed the pretty girl, "Wu Ya, I'm warning you, next time you do something, you'd better consult everyone first."
"There wasn't time to discuss…"
The girl named Wu Ya instinctively retorted.
The sports student did not—or perhaps disdain—to argue with a young girl, turning to scrutinize Lv Bai with a suspicious gaze.
To be precise, everyone present looked at Lv Bai with a touch of suspicion.
The reason lay in the blood-stained sword in Lv Bai's hand.
This wasn't the campus gunfight version in America, carrying such an exaggerated controlled weapon was really abrupt.
The sports student raised his hand to point, "Please go wait in the partition yourself."
Hearing this rather impolite directive, Lv Bai unwittingly smiled.
Wu Ya hastily pulled Lv Bai aside, whispered, "Classmate, don't be upset, Ke Jianghao didn't mean any harm, he's just worried about everyone's safety… Anyway, you weren't bitten, just wait ten minutes and come out."
Upon hearing this, Lv Bai raised his eyebrows.
Who are you to presume my species?
Honestly, he felt his current physical condition wasn't much different from zombies.
And just that flimsy partition wall wouldn't lock any zombies away.
Surveying the others, although no one spoke, it was clear they all hoped he himself would go into isolation.
The bespectacled boy even shivered slightly when Lv Bai's gaze swept over him.
"Alright."
Lv Bai responded casually, walked into the partition, and closed the door on his own.
He took a stack of files off the shelf, sat on it, and leaned back against the wooden door with a stretch.
After crossing over to this world, he rarely had such a relaxing time, and his entire aura became lazily laid back.
Through brief contact, he had a rough judgment of this "survivor team."
The saintly rescuer, timid and cowardly bespectacled boy, and incapable teacher.
"Feels like we've already met the necessary conditions for total destruction…"
Thankfully, his health bar was quite thick.
Thinking of this, Lv Bai grasped the blade, exerting slight pressure with his thumb to cut a slit on the fingertip.
He observed quietly as fresh blood oozed from the wound.
Indeed.
After just a few breaths, the blood stopped, and even when he intentionally squeezed, no more blood oozed out.
"Does self-healing speed depend on wound size or severity?"
Although he was uncertain if there were levels other than the Gold and Silver ranks in the Ability Pool.
If one were to consider this so-called death match as a kind of battle royale, theoretically, there should be some degree of fairness ensured.
No matter how you look at it, this self-healing ability was clearly superior to a sword that could easily be snatched away.
A higher level of Ability Pool, is that my cheat?
Lv Bai thoughtfully rubbed his chin while glancing at the current rankings, noting the surviving number had become 376.
The elimination rate had significantly slowed, presumably because most "players" had survived the initial chaos and found safe places.
[Ding!]
[The current death match has been open for half an hour, location of all Death Fighters now being announced.]
[The next location announcement will be in two hours.]
A mechanical prompt echoed in his mind, and simultaneously, a black-and-green radar-like display appeared on the data panel before Lv Bai.
A waveform extending from the center rotated clockwise, revealing dense clusters of bright spots.
Without needing a hint, he immediately understood the brightly lit green spots on screen represented those so-called Death Fighters.
Undoubtedly, if locations were reported periodically, staying in one place would be unrealistic.
"Why does it feel like a Dragon Ball radar?"
Lv Bai stared at the radar display, pondering, "So is my dot brighter?"
…
"Classmate, are you still here?"
Wu Ya's voice came from behind the door.
"Can I come out now?" Lv Bai stood up, slung the Eight-sided Han Sword over his back.
Cre-eak~
The partition door was cautiously pushed open.
Seeing Lv Bai unchanged physically, Wu Ya's delicate face quickly lost all traces of tension.
She stepped aside, saying, "Glad you're okay, by the way, I'm Wu Ya, and you?"
Lv Bai walked out from the partition, glanced at her sideways and replied with a smile, "Lv Bai."
"Are you a senior too? How come I haven't seen you before?"
Ke Jianghao, the sports student, currently sat cross-legged on a desk.
"Maybe I'm not very noticeable."
Lv Bai shrugged, casually pulling out an office chair to sit in.
He realized now that, at least so far, he hadn't felt any anger, hatred, or similar emotions.
This gave him a strong sense of division.
Because his soul, or consciousness, clearly knew what that feeling should be like.
"Oh well, even the living dead have appeared…"
Ke Jianghao leaned his upper body slightly forward, "I'm curious, where did you get that sword?"
