Chapter 18 - Chapter 17: Blood Burst

Nightfall descends.

Lv Bai gazes at the crescent moon that has silently risen and stretches lazily.

"What a fulfilling day."

Zombies are still seen wandering the streets, their howls occasionally cutting through the air, becoming more active at night.

After sunset, the wind on the rooftop becomes noticeably stronger.

Lv Bai shrinks his neck into his collar, planning to climb down from the terrace and find a random spot inside the building to spend the night.

Just then, a light flashes at him.

He immediately becomes alert, flips back onto the terrace, using the railing as cover.

"A sniper rifle? Or something else?"

Though his knowledge of firearms is limited to gunfight games he played in his past life.

But he's heard somewhat of the power of sniper rifles.

The Barrett hits the head with over five hundred blood points; isn't that scary?

He hunkers behind the railing for about ten seconds, then cautiously peeks out, scanning the surroundings, quickly locating the direction of the light source.

It's coming from the window ledge on the fifth floor of the diagonal hotel.

The other party seems to have no intention of hiding, even shaking, as if afraid of not being noticed.

Seeing this, Lv Bai realizes there's no malicious intent, hesitating for a moment, he still waves toward that direction.

After being infected with the zombie virus, Lv Bai's hearing improved greatly, but his eyesight did not significantly enhance.

Separated by dozens of meters at night with reduced visibility, he stares at that window for ages, barely discerning that there's a man and a woman inside the room.

He vaguely sees the man seemingly speaking, his expression unreadable, but the man's movements are getting increasingly agitated.

"Did they think I was going to jump off just now?"

Lv Bai shows a friendly smile, waving his arm again.

"Hurry and ask him to throw us some food." Zhou Meina grabs Tang Peng's collar forcefully.

Starving for a day and night, this little couple's eyes are nearly turning green from hunger.

Unfortunately, the hotel's panoramic window was designed with safety in mind, tilting at most 45° upwards, barely serving ventilation purposes.

"I'm on it!"

Tang Peng strains to push the hotel window open as wide as possible, squeezing out a bit, shouting to Lv Bai, "Brother, help us out! Throw some food!"

In the silent night, Tang Peng's shout sounds particularly abrupt.

Lv Bai raises a finger to his lips, signaling Tang Peng to be quiet a bit as he eyes the zombies outside slowly lifting their heads.

However, neither Tang Peng nor Zhou Meina understands his meaning.

"Damn! What's that bastard's problem?" Tang Peng curses angrily.

Zhou Meina sits down bellowing hysterically, "Can't you see? This guy definitely doesn't want to share food with us!"

She keeps slapping the floor, a few strands of hair falling into her mouth, indifferent to managing them.

Yes, when facing despair, few can remain rational.

To them, such a large department store surely doesn't lack food.

"Does it help you to make a fuss?"

Tang Peng's face darkens, on the verge of bursting rage.

Zhou Meina immediately retorted, "Fierce fierce fierce! Just fierce at me! Then what do you suggest we do?"

Angry as they are, their memory hasn't faded.

The scene of Lv Bai kicking through the tempered glass door not long ago remains vivid; there's no place for them to vent even if they wanted to.

On the department store rooftop.

Having noticed the couple closing the window and quieting down, Lv Bai doesn't think more, turns, and descends the rooftop to find a place to rest.

...

The next day.

Lv Bai wakes up from a true leather luxury bed on sale, sitting upright.

He forcefully rubs around his eye sockets, steadily refreshing himself, getting up to leave the bedding area.

"These zombies' quality is really hopeless..."

Lv Bai sighs sleepily.

He didn't sleep well last night, feeling a bit dizzy now.

In the dead of night, outside zombies were wildly active like they were hosting a party.

Whether their throats were sore from yelling, Lv Bai didn't know, but after a whole night of this, he felt he was about to crack.

Only after rinsing his face with cold water did he regain a bit of consciousness.

Lv Bai lazily yawns, turning off the faucet, "But the city's water supply system still runs; could it be the water plant is automated now?"

After grumbling a couple of sentences, Lv Bai hooks up his Double Eagle's gun back onto his waist.

Just to mention, although he's been carrying this gun, he never actually thought of using it, it mainly provides psychological comfort.

Truly because it's unstable, it might play a no-bullet trick when needed; indeed the Eight-sided Han Sword cold weapon is more reliable.

Besides, he's gotten used to wielding it after cutting so many zombies and Death Fighters.

Lv Bai takes the Eight-sided Han Sword downstairs, incidentally packing some usable items into his pocket.

Perhaps due to last night's zombie ruckus, they're currently sneaking somewhere to sleep.

The whole department store, including the outside streets, are exceptionally quiet.

Morning air, even in urbanized districts, always possesses a fresh crispness.

Lv Bai steps over shattered glass exiting the department store, greedily inhaling deeply as if washing out most of his fatigue.

Squeak~

Lv Bai catches a faint rustle.

Glancing in the sound's direction, he looks up as the hotel's fifth-floor window pushes open.

Then a wall-mounted TV crashes onto the road near Lv Bai.

Tang Peng, his eyes bloodshot and face ferocious, glares: "Won't give us food? Then die!"

Before the words fall, heavy objects continually hurl from the window, playing a jarring symphony.

Nearby zombies hear the sound, unleashing howls.

Over at the street corner, a few zombies spot Lv Bai in the middle of the road and frantically twist their bodies, lunging toward him.

"Tsk."

Lv Bai's smile grows increasingly amiable: "When did I offend you?"

"Spit! I just find you disagreeable; bite me if you're not submitting!" Tang Peng spits, his expression twisting to near madness.

"Though I don't want to kill people so early in the morning, maybe leaving isn't right. Let's count it as serving justice."

Faced with such a person, Lv Bai's heart remains void of anger; he silently activates "Blood Burst."

As "Blood Burst" activates, his skin visibly turns reddish warm.

The dizziness from anemia quickly overlaid by the endless power surging in his body.

In Tang Peng's eyes, Lv Bai appears angry, merely displaying it a bit transparently.

Thus he sneers: "Typical impotent rage."
