In this world there are countless elements, each brought to this world by dragons, all dragons have their own unique element.
One day the dragons decided to grant the countless lifeforms the ability to use said elements,
Thus the tradition of receiving an element from the dragons at the start of the year for all children that had turned 5 came about,
because of this every 5 years marked a milestone, at five they gain an element, at ten they gain a trait, one that is unique to them, and at 15 they become an adult.
The kingdom of Esteros January 1, year 1018
This is the day the seven children receive their element.
One by one all the children wake up on their own ready for breakfast, except for Toshi who continues to sleep despite how Important that day was.
The elderly lady who is referred to by ms.mary sets the dinning table, and puts breakfast down ontop of the table, a modest meal of bread, fruit, and a vegetable soup.
Ms.mary calls all the children to come for food, except for Toshi who is still asleep.
"Hanibi can you be a dear and go get Toshi for me" ms.mary said in a elderly and kind tone. "Of course" Hanibi yelled as she ran to wake Toshi, almost tripping on her way there.
Hanibi opened the door to Toshil's room to see Toshi sleeping without a care in the world.
Hanibi tried to wake Toshi up by calling his name, but Toshi continued to sleep ever so peacefully, so Hanibi than tried to take the blanket from off of Toshi, but she was unable to get it from under him, and upon seeing Toshi's hand gripping the blanket Hanibi realized that he was already awake.
Upon realizing that Toshi was awake, Hanibi began to get upset with Toshi, and started to pout, "Toshi if your awake already you should hurry up and go to the table, everyone is there waiting for you!" Hanibi says with her cheeks puffed up with air, clearly mad at Toshi.
Toshi:" just let me sleep".
Hanibi:"no way, today is an incredibly big day for us".
Toshi:"yes I know, it's the day we get our elements, but I don't see the problem with sleeping in."
Hanibi: you always sleep in, so today your gonna get up early."
Toshi:"But I don't wanna."
Hanibi:"Hurry up and get ready it's almost time to go to the temple"
Toshi:"ok..."
Toshi gets outta bed clearly tired while dragging his pillow across the hallway all the way to the dinning room, where the rest of the kids are already seated.
Chiaki:"took you long enough, honestly I don't know why we are forced into waiting for you everyday." Chiaki says to Toshi while obviously upset.
Ms.mary:"how about we just eat, there's no reason to fight on such a special day".
The children then finished their meal and began on the walk to the temple so that they could discover their elemental affinity.
During the walk there, the children ran around and played, all of them clearly excited to finally be able to use their long awaited magic that they have dreamed of.
Until finally reaching the temple, the place where their elemental affinity will be appraised.
Chiaki:"yay! We finally made it to the temple." Chiaki has a big smile on her face while looking up at the small temple.
Hanibi:"now that we're here I'm starting to get nervous." she says with a worried look on her face.
Mamoru:"don't worry I'm sure it'll be fine." He says as he pats Hanibi's head.
Moriko:"your not the only one who is nervous, just look at ryuko, he's shaking."
She says mocking him and laughing.
Ryuko:"i-i-im n-not shaking." ryuko's face showed that he was far more scared than the rest of the children.
Kuroi:"guys let's go in already, Toshi is starting to dose off."
Chiaki:"how does he manage to sleep even when standing."
Hanibi:"it's a mystery that we shall never know."
The children begin to walk in, immediately after walking in they see the priest that will be checking their elements.
They are lined up and begin their examination, starting with Mamoru, without delay, he is told his affinity.
Mamoru's element is earth.
Moriko is wind.
Hanibi is fire.
Toshi is ice.
ryuko is lightning.
Kuroi has a rare illusion element.
And Chiaki has an incredibly rare gravity attribute.
The priest than congratulated the children and prayed for them, before waving them goodbye as they left the temple.
All the children wave bye in good spirits, running around, with big smiles on their faces, as they laughed so much on the way home that their chests started to hurt.
