The video began to play slowly.
[The God of Destruction, Beerus, awakens from his slumber.]
[In his dream, a figure called the Super Saiyan God appeared, leaving him restless.]
[Together with his attendant angel, Whis, Beerus sets out on a journey to find this so-called Super Saiyan God.]
North Kai's Planet
The North Kai's lips trembled the moment he saw who had arrived.
Inside his house, Goku whispered to himself:"So that's the God of Destruction, Beerus!"
"He really does look strong! But… I can't feel even a hint of his energy. That's insane!"Goku's eyes lit up. "Man, this is making me so hyped I can hardly stand it!"
The North Kai stuttered badly, "L–Lord Beerus! What an… honor to have you visit my tiny planet!"
Beerus spoke slowly, almost lazily. "Been a long time, North Kai."
Goku peeked out, confused. "Huh? That's Beerus?!"Apparently, he had been mistaking Whis for Beerus the entire time.
"How many years has it been?" Beerus asked.
The North Kai started counting on his fingers.
Whis answered with a calm smile. "Three hundred and twenty-seven years, my lord."
From inside, Goku muttered, "Wow… he looks totally terrified of him. Is Beerus really that powerful?"
Beerus glanced around. "I have to say, your planet is ridiculously small."
The North Kai bowed. "S-so sorry about that! A cramped little place like this must be a disgrace to your eyes!"
"I completely forgot to offer you food! Would you honor me by dining here?"
Beerus' eyes narrowed. "If the food's as disgusting as last time, I'll shrink your planet down to the size of that house over there."
The North Kai panicked. "Bubbles, quick—go prepare something right now!"
As the monkey scrambled away to cook, Beerus waved it off. "Forget it. I just had a boxed meal earlier. I'm not hungry."
The Kai cautiously tried again. "Then maybe… just some cookies?"
"I said I'm not eating. Keep nagging, and I'll blow up this whole planet."
The North Kai froze, then bowed even lower. "Forgive me! I spoke out of turn. But… what brings you here, my lord?"
Beerus answered bluntly. "I came looking for a Saiyan."
The North Kai broke into a cold sweat. "A Saiyan? Oh no… Goku, come out right now!"
Goku jogged out with a grin. "Hi! I'm Goku!"
Smack! The Kai slammed a fist into his head. "Idiot! You're old enough to know basic manners! Show some respect!"
Goku scratched his head, then bowed. "Good morning! My name is Son Goku, pleased to meet you!"
Beerus gave him a serious look. "Morning, Goku. I have something to ask you. It's about this… Super… something…"
Whis chimed in helpfully. "Super Saiyan God, my lord."
"Right, that," Beerus said, tapping his head. "Do you know anything about it?"
Goku tilted his head, completely lost. "Super Saiyan God? I've only heard of Super Saiyan. Never heard of a god version."
The North Kai shot him a warning glare. Goku immediately straightened up and said more politely, "No, sir. I've never heard of it."
"I haven't either," the North Kai quickly added.
Beerus stepped closer, staring Goku down. "I heard you were the one who defeated Frieza. Is that true?"
Goku grinned sheepishly. "Yeah, that was me."
Beerus looked him up and down. "Doesn't look like it. Unless… you're one of those Saiyans who can transform. A Super Saiyan?"
The North Kai quickly nodded. "Yes, Goku can transform into a Super Saiyan!"
Beerus turned his back. "Then you really don't know about this 'god' business."
Whis spoke softly, "My lord, perhaps we should return. It seems your dream was only a dream—it cannot foretell the future. After all, who could possibly rival Lord Beerus?"
Beerus frowned. "The thing is, it wasn't just me. The Oracle Fish mentioned it too. Maybe we should ask Prince Vegeta instead. Earth isn't far."
The North Kai's face turned pale. "E-Earth?!"
Whis asked, "Shall we go? It'll only take three minutes."
Beerus smirked. "From the way you said that, it almost sounds like you don't want me to go."
"Of course not, my lord," Whis replied smoothly, eyes twinkling.
The North Kai was practically begging now. "You're not planning to destroy Earth, are you?"
"As long as nothing annoys me, it'll be fine. Whis, let's go."
Just as Beerus was about to leave, Goku suddenly called out. "Lord Beerus! They say you're incredibly strong… could you maybe show me, just once?"
"Goku!" The Kai nearly fainted. "What are you saying?!"
Beerus chuckled. "You want to test my power? How?"
Goku rubbed his cheek. "How about a little sparring match?"
The North Kai jumped in front of him. "You fool! How dare you speak like that to Lord Beerus! Forgive him, my lord—I'll discipline him later!"
Beerus' smile widened. "I've lived for billions of years… and that's the first time anyone's said something like this to me. Maybe you're overconfident… or maybe you're just a complete idiot. Either way, fine. I'll show you a glimpse of my power."
Goku's face lit up. "Awesome! Thank you so much!"
The North Kai tried desperately to stop him. "Goku, don't! Lord Beerus isn't like your past enemies. Just a breath from his nose could blow you across the galaxy like a speck of dust. You have no idea how strong he really is!"
But Goku had already changed into his gi. "That's exactly why I want to spar!"
Meanwhile, in the real Dragon Ball world…
Frieza froze, dumbstruck. "That Saiyan, Son Goku… is he an idiot? Challenging Lord Beerus? He has no clue how high the heavens are!"
Even the four Kais watching the screen were sweating bullets at Goku's reckless behavior.
"Man, I can't wait for this!" Goku shouted.
Beerus yawned, sounding bored. "Are we fighting or not?"
"Of course!" Goku dashed forward. "But it'd be rude to face you like this!"
He powered up instantly. Golden energy flared around him, his hair turning bright gold.
"This is a Super Saiyan!"
Beerus raised an eyebrow. "Oh? So this is what you used to beat Frieza. You look a tiny bit stronger, I suppose. Fine—attack me however you want."
Whis casually sat on the roof. "Guess I'll have to eat my boxed lunch later."
Goku's eyes sharpened. "Then I won't hold back! And please, don't go easy on me either—I'll be fighting with everything I've got!"
"Suit yourself," Beerus said flatly.
Goku launched a flurry of punches, but Beerus just kept his hands behind his back, dodging effortlessly.
Goku gritted his teeth and pushed harder, fists flying in a storm of blows—every single one missed.
Whis sighed as he closed up his lunchbox. "Looks like I won't have time to eat after all."
"Impossible!" Goku gasped. "I can't even touch him!"
The North Kai was in full panic. "I warned you! Stop already before it's too late!"
Beerus looked so bored he was practically dozing off, yet he still avoided every strike without effort.
