"I wonder what he is," Scar muttered, hands in his pockets as he strolled down the dimly lit street. The night air was heavy, silent—like it was holding its breath.
"The old man… that's not his son," he added under his breath, eyes narrowing.
A crooked grin tugged at his lips.
"What's going on here…"
He let out a low chuckle.
"Damn, this is exciting… I'm getting psyched."
Something was stirring—and Scar could feel it in his bones.
A rustle behind the trees.
Scar didn't flinch. He stopped walking and tilted his head slightly.
"You can come out now, girl," he said calmly, voice low.
The silence stretched—then heavy paws hit the pavement.
From the shadows, a massive werewolf stepped out, fully shifted, fur bristling under the moonlight. Yellow eyes locked onto Scar, filled with instinct and recognition.
Scar smirked.
"What's going on with you?" he said, reaching up to pat her head.
"First, you went full-wolf on your first bite—most people go rogue, half-shifted, man-wolf hybrids at best."
He circled her slowly, eyes sharp.
"Now, it's been days, and you still haven't shifted back."
He paused, gaze narrowing.
"You holding on to the beast… or is it holding on to you?"
After a beat, he gave her one last look and turned to walk away.
"Either way… keep watching Luna," he said over his shoulder.
"And don't get caught."
She watched him walk away.
His scent lingered.
Part of her wanted to follow. Obey. Protect.
But the other part—the girl—snarled from deep within. She was trapped now, fading fast, while the beast rose higher with every passing moon.
Scar's words echoed, distorted through the fog of fur and instinct.
"You holding on to the beast… or is it holding on to you?"
Her claws twitched. The moon tugged at her bones.
She didn't know the answer anymore.
"All I ever wanted was him… I just want him…"
The words bled through her, not as a growl, but as a silent cry from the girl still buried beneath fur and fangs.
"Now I'm a slave to that kid…
I don't even understand what all this is… I don't even know what's going on…"
The beast didn't care. It just obeyed orders.
But the girl inside?
She was screaming.
And no one could hear her.
Strange one, she is, Scar thought, a flicker of amusement in his eyes.
But I guess that's what you get for being dumb… Humans—so gullible. She traded her own humanity out of greed.
He let out a dry laugh.
"Now she's paying the price."
His footsteps echoed down the empty street, uncaring, unbothered—leaving the broken beast in the dark behind him.
"But who cares," he muttered, a wicked grin spreading across his face.
"It's still working out in my favor."
He shoved his hands deeper into his pockets, eyes gleaming under the moonlight.
One more piece on the board—obedient, broken… and his.
"Emily, Emily, Emily… what a wonder you are," Scar murmured, voice dripping with dark fascination.
