Another week had passed since that weird dream. Things were different now. I was starting to get the hang of this world - especially the clothes. Still hated the boots, though. The others were out on training in the kingdom atleast their trainers made them travel.
I was in the middle of sparring with another apprentice knight. Renaldt wanted to test both of us. My opponent was about my age - short blue hair and a scar above his nose.
Our wooden swords clashed, each of us pushing back hard, muscles tensed. The pressure broke and we
both dashed backward.
No time to rest.
He charged again, this time aiming for my torso. I parried and swung for his head - he ducked, just barely.
He grabbed my wrist and tossed me.
I flipped mid-air, barely landing on my hands before his next strike came down. I raised my blade in time to block, wood crashing against wood with a loud crack.
We both froze, breathing hard. Then he smirks.
"Oi dont tell me your at your limit kazumi"
"Bug...off "I said as I struggled
He then infuses mana in his blade
"Hey no fair"
Just as my words came out his mana infuse sword bring down alot of pressure on me and I jump back ditching my sword as I saw it break under pressure.. a blue aura slowly rises off his wooden sword
"Give up" he said as he pointed the sword at me
Knowing i had nothing to defend myself with i slowly rise my hand
"You freaking cheated"
"Shut up, your just mad you lost"
"I didn't know we were using mana"
"Your loss dumbass"
"Dumbass!? Listen here loser"
"That's enough!" Renaldt who was in the corner quietly observing our fight decided finally decided to say something
"You lost Kazumi" with that word said I could see a smug look on kento's face which make me wanna punch it so bad
"When fighting an enemy they won't hesitate to take you down whether fair or not, and I'm sure I dont remember making a rule that says you can't use mana"
"I understand" I said as i bowed my head
"Well you improved I guess"Renaldt added
"Alright thats it for today trainings over"
Well I'm actually happy trainings over, if I was to stay any longer with Kento I'd lose it. While walking back to the castle ground lost in thought I was alerted by some one calling my name
"Kazumi!!Kazumi!! Wait up"
Turning around I see Minori running up to me
"Hey, Kazumi been awhile" she said
"Sure has, 3 days right?" I asked
"Yup" she said cheerily
"How was training" I asked
She then grabs my collar and pulls me close to her face
"M-Minori?" I stuttered as I feel my face gets warm
"Kazumi you won't believe it but this world is amazing"
"R-really?"
"Never seen anything like it!" She said
"Kazumi the kingdom is huge, and we didn't even travel much,
I gotta say I thought the food cooked in the castle was good but
Wait till you go to the Chaksu restaurant, we stayed at an inn and--"
Blah blah Blah I literally zoned out when Minori started shaking me making my head bob back to forth and constantly rambled about what she did or where she went. oh god I feel sick
"Stop torturing him Minori" was what I heard when Minori hands got yanked from my collar
Opening my eyes I see shinome, eyes staring straight through my soul...Damn why didnt I sense when she got here.
"Kazumi...."
Turning around I see Shuka..damn did she shrunk during her time in the kingdom
"Hey, whats up?"
"I'm starving" she answered playfully
"Oh yeah? me too" I said as I laughed
"Wait where's John?"
"ABOUT TIME YOU ASKED!!"
Turning in the direction of the noise, which seems to be the castle.There I see John, standing on the pointed part of the castle's roof with a white cloak blowing in the wind, arms folded and all.
What the hell is he trying to prove, like he's not that guy
"BRO YOUR NOT COOL!!" I cupped my hands and shouted
He then smirks before jumping off the roof, mid air he flash steps and lands right infront of me.
Now that move made me question alotta things. I didn't even see what he did and for some reason I could feel warmth energy radiating off him
"Yo" he said finally dropping the pose
"What do you think of this cloak? " he asked
"It's cool, where'd you get it?"
"Man so basically-"
"Here we go again"
"Uhh come on really?"
John was cut off by the girls sighing and groaning like they heard the story 50 times already.
"Come on Kazumi" Shuka suddenly grabbed my hand and started pulling me along with the others
"Hey I wanna hear the story" I retorted
"Trust me you do not" Shinome added and so they all dragged me in the castle
Soon after showering and getting dressed. I made my way to the Ember hall (A.K.A dinner table) the table was lined out with food as usual. Man all those trainings made me hungry, so I hurriedly take a seat beside John
Upon my arrival, the servants started taking the silver dome off the plates revealing all kinds of foods which made my mouth water a bit. A delicious aroma took over the room, as soon as my share was shared I dug in not wasting a second
"Thank you, Alfred" John said with a grin
"I believe you are mistaking me for someone else, good sir. My name is Celdric" said the servant slightly confused
I then sigh
"Come on you gotta stop at some point"
"Where's the queen?" Shuka asked the maid who was pouring out wine
"Your highness is currently in an important meeting. I apologized for not informing you sooner" said the maid
We then continued our dinner in a delicious silence.
Now over to where the queen is lies a round table with very important figures there.
First up sits:
GENERAL ARCAINE
Head of the military. Wears an eyepatch over his right eye and has dark spiky hair with a pushed back hairline
MINISTER LYRA
She handles foreign affairs. Long blonde curly hair , cold eyes. Never smiles
ARCHBISHOP SAREN
A religious figure. A man well in his 60s, he's always silent unless he need to speak
And finally
DUKE VAELRICH
Political powerhouse who is in charge of finances. Silver haired and is known to play both sides
There were a few others but those were the main ones. Renaldt and Lochiel was there too
"I've summoned you today because I have come to the conclusion of letting the hero go public" said Eresilla
Gasp rippled across the council table. Some leaned forward. Others frowned
Archbishop stood up
"Your highness, if we expose them now we'd be painting targets on theirs backs"
"The demon king has spies in every kingdom if words get out before they are strong enough they will be killed" said general Arcaine
"How could they be truly strong enough if they are locked in shadows?" asked the Queen
"I have a solution. Let them explore - not as heroes... but as unknown adventurers" Lochiel added calmly in his seat
Renaldt scoffed
So, what give them aliases and send them on B rank misson like regular grunts"
A few shuffled in there seats as a deep tension rose everybody was busy trying to find a solution.
"Fine lets put it to a vote" said the queen after a few minutes of thinking
"Let the hero go public or let them go out as unknown adventurers?"
The queen was out voted by alot of them standing in the room...she then lets out a sigh
"Very well.. it is decided the hero will become and adventurer"
End
