CHAPTER 340: There is no concept of evil
On the other side, Kurtz naturally noticed the strange expression on Serie's face. It can only be said that Miss Elf was a little annoyed by Olivia's arrival, but fortunately, she didn't really show it.
Kurtz spoke gently to Olivia. "Olivia, thank you for your hard work. Welcome to the Magic Association."
Then he walked up to Solis, squatted down, and looked her in the eye.
Solis's eyes remained calm and still, reflecting Kurtz's figure without any emotion, showing neither curiosity nor fear, as if she were simply receiving an ordinary visual signal.
In response, Kurtz slightly revealed his magical aura to test the other party's reaction. However, Solis still did not react.
"Can you see it?" Kurtz asked.
Demons are born with the ability to see the magical aura on a person and can judge the strength of the person based on the amount of magical aura they possess.
"Yes," Solis replied.
At this moment, the magical power of the people in front of her was so immense that she could not look directly at them, especially the man who had asked her a question. The magical power emanating from him made her heart pound wildly, but she didn't know what this feeling was.
"Is that so..." Kurtz remained silent after hearing Solis's reply.
With his current strength, not to mention all the demons, probably at least ninety-nine percent of them would be so frightened by their first sight of him that they would flee in terror and not even have the slightest thought of resistance.
But Solis, standing before him, did not show a similar expression.
Was it because I didn't show any murderous intent?
Kurtz tried to ask Solis about her name and origins, but she herself knew nothing about them.
"Where did that guy Carlo find such a strange demon?" Serie couldn't help but ask.
She had later learned about the things her "good disciple" Flamme and Carlo had done, and she naturally remembered Carlo, since she was the one who awarded him the qualification of a second-level mage. It's just that because the other party wasn't a combat-oriented mage, Serie didn't pay much attention to them.
"It's in an underground labyrinth, Lady Serie," Olivia answered, and then recounted what she had learned from Carlo about Solifra's origins.
"I've been to that underground labyrinth, too. There's a very powerful creature inside that's probably lived for at least a thousand years," Flamme added.
"Interesting." Upon hearing that such a powerful, unknown creature existed, Serie became somewhat interested.
Unfortunately, this interest was quickly overshadowed by her desire not to go out. Miss Elf loves fighting and battling strong opponents, but she also has a bit of a homebody streak. She would love to have someone she can fight with anytime, anywhere, without leaving the house.
And coincidentally, there is such a perfect guy right next to her.
Unfortunately, Kurtz's strength was a bit too much. Except when she first taught him magic, Serie never won.
How awful!
Meanwhile, unaware that Serie was criticizing him, Kurtz continued to scrutinize Solifra. He carefully sensed her mental fluctuations; it was an almost deathly stillness, devoid of any emotional ripples.
"As expected, their emotional aspect is almost nonexistent, with only the most basic instincts for survival and energy exchange," Kurtz muttered to himself, confirming his initial judgment.
Such an entity, unable to comprehend what "evil" is, will behave in ways that defy common sense, potentially harmless or causing immense destruction, without conscious awareness.
We must establish an absolutely inviolable rule.
Thinking of this, Kurtz had a sudden thought and slowly raised his hand, seemingly to touch Solifra's short black hair as if to stroke a child.
However, just as his hand was about to touch her hair, an invisible, terrifying pressure locked onto Solis as if it were a tangible force.
This aura is not directed at the physical body but rather acts directly on the most basic survival instinct of life. In Solis's blank consciousness, Kurtz's seemingly ordinary hand instantly transformed into a shadow that blotted out the sky, carrying an endless aura of death as it attacked her. It was a terrifying majesty that terrified her very soul, as if it would wipe her off the face of the earth in the next instant.
"Wa..aah.."
Solis, who had remained unresponsive like a delicate doll, suddenly began to tremble violently.
For the first time, a violent fluctuation appeared in her eyes, stemming from the most primal fear of life. Even the most emotionless life will develop emotions before death, and she was no exception.
Her small body suddenly tensed up, completely unable to move, and she could only stiffly endure this oppressive force.
Kurtz's hand eventually landed gently on her head, the movement even described as tender. Then he spoke, each word icy cold, as if trying to imprint it into the depths of Solis's mind, which was blank with fear.
"Remember this feeling."
"No matter the reason or the situation, you must never harm someone. If you disobey..." Kurtz's voice lowered. "I will make you experience a hell more desperate than death!"
His hand lingered above her head for a moment before the suffocating, terrifying pressure gradually dissipated.
Solis's tense body instantly relaxed. Her small body swayed, and she almost collapsed to the ground. She was breathing weakly, and the emptiness in her eyes was replaced by a deep fear.
She may still not understand good and evil, nor be able to comprehend human emotions, but from this moment on, she is forbidden to harm others. Kurtz added an absolute prohibition on her in the most brutal, direct way.
This is a necessary insurance policy. For an existence that cannot be communicated with using common sense and whose power attributes are extremely unique, only the deepest fear can restrain the uncertainty it may bring.
Moreover, this is only the first line of defense.
Serie watched Kurtz's actions without saying a word, knowing it was a necessary move. Flamme and Olivia remained silent, savoring the chilling atmosphere of that brief moment.
Solis, whose instinct for fear had been etched into her body, curled up and showed a vulnerable posture for the first time, although it may have just been an instinctive reaction to seek advantage and avoid harm.
After all, when faced with an opponent they cannot defeat and cannot escape, demons sometimes show signs of weakness. Once the opponent relaxes their guard, they will strike decisively.
It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that it's the most cunning creature in the world.
