"Miss Grant. Are you sure that you cannot think of anyone who would want to harm you?"
Vanessa rubbed her forehead tiredly before shaking her head once more as the officer sitting opposite her asked her the same question for what felt like the hundredth time.
"No. I really cannot think of anyone else." At this point, the questions had started blending together. The officers had already questioned her repeatedly about Ethan, Lynette, former employees, rival companies, terminated contracts and even family disputes.
Each answer only seemed to lead to another question. Suddenly, she was feeling like the perpetrator instead of the victim! As if she had done something to be attacked.
The older investigator studied her silently for another moment before glancing down at the notebook in front of him.
"There was this assitant that was removed from his position six months ago?"
"Yes."
"And according to the reports, he blamed you personally?"
Vanessa exhaled slowly.
