Elliott entered the room and then stumbled to a stop. Vanessa watched as his eyes widened slightly before his steps slowed completely near the doorway. For several long seconds, neither of them spoke. She kept her eyes fixed on him carefully and saw the calculation in his eyes.
She smiled. He had not been expecting this. She could see the wariness in his eyes. She forced herself to smile and slowly walked toward him.
The soft fabric of her dress brushed against her legs with every step she took. She had spent almost an hour deciding whether to wear it at all. In the end, she had chosen the one thing in her wardrobe that made her feel even remotely feminine.
It made her feel odd, seducing him like this. The first time she had done it, she had been almost shivering in fear. But she had channelled her favourite female lead from the novel. And the results had been incredible. She had experienced for herself, the power of being able to attract someone.
