Chapter 196 - Ancient Runes! Coulson's Shock!

The subsequent developments of the Wonder Woman movie were entirely within Coulson's expectations.

It wasn't a film with profound depth, but rather a superhero movie designed for popcorn consumption.

However, the content and the director behind the film were not to be ignored.

As the plot unfolded, viewers saw the appearance of the Godkiller Weapon, a sword, during Diana's upbringing.

The audience didn't know that this sword was called the Godkiller Sword in the original comic, capable of cutting at the subatomic level. In the movie, however, the sword didn't display any of its power.

But that was all for later.

The early plot progressed, the background was introduced, and the main story began.

An airplane broke into Themyscira, followed by the arrival of the German army, who were dealt with, albeit with some effort, by the Amazons.

From the pilot, Steve Trevor, Diana learned about the world outside.

A massive war was sweeping across the globe.

In four years, 27 countries participated, and 25 million people had died.

Hearing the name Steve, Coulson's expression became strange again.

To anyone, the name undoubtedly alluded to Captain America.

And the movie's backdrop easily made Coulson connect it to the previous era, the Second World War.

However, the movie's setting was World War I.

Secondly, Coulson, as a huge fan of Captain America Steve Rogers, knew Rogers' story inside and out.

Rogers had definitely never been to Themyscira.

This was clearly a fabrication by Anton.

"...No reference value!"

Coulson calmed down, slightly frowning.

He began to think that this movie might not have any meaning at all, it was purely out of Anton's personal interest.

The movie developed as Coulson had predicted.

The people of Themyscira believed that Ares had caused the war. Diana wanted to defeat Ares, so she took the Godkiller Weapon, left Themyscira with Steve Trevor, and was going to fight Ares to end the war.

During this process, they found reliable allies and steadily advanced, eventually locating Ares' human avatar.

It was General Ludendorff from the German army.

But after Ludendorff died, the war didn't stop. Diana discovered that Sir Patrick, who had been helping them all along, was the real Ares.

The Godkiller Weapon, that sword, was easily destroyed by Ares.

Ares pointed out that the sword wasn't a Godkiller Weapon at all; Diana herself was.

As the daughter of Zeus and Hippolyta, the Amazon queen, Diana had the blood of the Old Gods flowing through her veins and was naturally a deity.

Only a god could kill another god.

A great battle ensued.

Ultimately, Steve, the male lead, died piloting a plane, and Diana, naturally, killed Ares, ending World War I.

The plot was quite simple.

Coulson saw Steve die in the plane and felt it was increasingly an allegory for Captain America.

And he, who was very familiar with Captain America, and had even interacted with him, knew Steve Rogers' experiences clearly.

The story known in reality and the plot in the movie created a sense of disconnect, making Coulson feel that this movie had little reference value.

Of course, he couldn't represent all the viewers.

At least, the viewers around Coulson were enjoying it.

The Wonder Woman movie was different from the previous ones, like Batman and Cyborg.

Batman appreciates the depth, while Cyborg is all about the tech!

Wonder Woman focuses on the backstory and the realistic special effects.

It was quite spectacular.

After the movie ended, the regular audience applauded, giving a warm response.

Tony, sitting in the audience, remained expressionless.

He admitted that the movie's quality was above average, a work that was likely to be successful, but it couldn't give him the same emotional impact as Batman, the technological inspiration of Cyborg, or even Superman's alien mystery...

What gods, Zeus, the King of the Gods, were too far removed from reality.

Tony had never believed in myths!

Unless there really was a King of the Gods, a son of a god, appearing before him.

From Tony's perspective, the only highlight of the movie was the busty, long-legged female lead, Diana.

The movie ended, and Tony and Coulson left early, without waiting for the main creative team to speak again.

Anton didn't mind.

Judging by the reactions of those around him, he knew that this movie would definitely achieve the effect he wanted.

Currently, Wonder Woman had 10 million fans, boosted by the Flash TV series. He estimated the remaining 20 million could be acquired in about a week.

"After activating the Wonder Woman template, I have another powerful combatant!"

Anton touched his chin, pondering for a moment.

Analyzing the situation, he had already exchanged for three DC heroes, including Batman, Cyborg, and Green Arrow.

Of the three, excluding Batman's various, completely unscientific, cheat-like armors, the person with the greatest strength in their normal state is undoubtedly Wonder Woman, a genuine deity who has divine blood flowing through her veins and possesses the power of the gods, Diana Prince.

As a result, the Justice League currently has Batman, Cyborg, Green Arrow, Wonder Woman, Venom, Spider-Man, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Daredevil, and Ghost Rider, these overt superheroes.

In addition, there is the Hulk, Lizard, and Splinter, hidden in the underground laboratory.

The composition of the team is terrifying.

Not to mention, the Justice League also has a War Base in space as a base.

And the War Base is connected to another planet, which is the home of the Transformers, Cybertron.

No matter what emergency situation arises, the Transformers can instantly appear as reinforcements through the teleporter on the War Base.

Considering all this, Anton even felt that he was already invincible.

That was, of course, just Anton's illusion.

There were many secrets hidden on Earth, and the most noteworthy of them was the Ancient One, the Sorcerer Supreme, who was currently hidden behind the scenes, silently watching everything and controlling the past and the future.

Although he didn't know why, the Ancient One had never appeared, but Anton knew that the Ancient One couldn't possibly ignore him, a super variable.

The identity of Batman might be able to fool others, but it definitely couldn't fool a magical big shot like the Ancient One, who could observe the past and the future.

In addition, there was Captain Marvel, Carol Danvers, who controlled the Nova Force.

This woman also couldn't tolerate Earth being controlled by any single force.

Captain Marvel was Nick Fury's strongest trump card, and Anton didn't think that there could be an absolutely friendly relationship between Batman, represented by him, and Captain Marvel, represented by Nick Fury.

"It's our turn, Anton, stop daydreaming!"

Suddenly, Jim urged him.

Anton regained his composure and walked onto the stage, smiling at everyone.

\n\n

A moment later.

\n\n

The premiere ended.

\n\n

The many media platforms that had been taken care of gave Wonder Woman high scores.

\n\n

Even if some people didn't enjoy the movie, they still said a few nice things for the sake of the large sums of money they had been paid.

\n\n

To be honest, although the Wonder Woman movie was above the passing line, it really couldn't compare to Batman, Superman, or even Cyborg's films.

\n\n

Limited by the subject matter, the big female lead vibe was too strong.

\n\n

The entire film, apart from the special effects and the female lead's big chest and long legs, was almost cliché.

However, just the special effects and the female lead's ample chest and long legs were enough to guarantee a commercial film's success.

As long as the plot was passable, no one would deliberately nitpick it.

This was confirmed by the box office results the next day.

The film grossed 40 million on its opening day in the local market.

Everyone knew, including Jim and the others, that Wonder Woman's performance wouldn't match Anton's previous films, Batman and Cyborg, due to the subject matter. However, considering the current situation, it was definitely a blockbuster.

Undoubtedly, the 40 million opening day box office took the top spot for the day.

Media platforms predicted that the final local box office might exceed 450 million, and the global box office would definitely surpass 800 million.

Jim was overjoyed.

He didn't expect the Wonder Woman movie to achieve the same level of success as the Batman film.

However, even the existing achievements were enough to elevate DC Comics and Anton's fame.

In just over a year, three movies, all box office hits.

Anton instantly became the most popular director in all of Hollywood, without any competition.

Within a few days, countless female stars sought him out, calling him, arranging chance encounters, and offering themselves.

Anton experienced the troubles of being too popular for the first time.

Having no other choice, Anton had to release a message that he was planning to take a break and wouldn't be considering filming any more movies in the near future.

People expressed their understanding.

Anton was a rich kid before he started making movies, so it was only natural that he lost interest after achieving success, especially since he was also running DC Comics and the Daily Bugle.

It's worth noting that the recently risen Wayne Enterprises also had close ties to Anton's Jameson Family.

But this didn't stop actresses and socialites from flocking to him like moths to a flame.

Even if Anton wasn't making movies, he was still a standard diamond bachelor. His current status and social standing were only slightly inferior to Tony Stark's—after all, Tony Stark was the Iron Man in everyone's eyes and the chairman of a giant company.

Anton was simply "fed up" and "forced" to live a few days of decadent life.

It's worth mentioning that in these few days, Wonder Woman's fan value quickly broke through the 20 million mark. In about a week, it would be able to break through 30 million and achieve the exchange target.

Anton was "pained" and happy at the same time.

What surprised him was that after communicating with his cheap old man, John, the Fantastic Four, who had gone up to heaven, currently had no plans to return.

Meaning, the Fantastic Four storyline was still a ways off, not as soon as Anton had anticipated.

However, during Anton's day off, a bizarre news report on television caught his attention.

New Mexico, near Pantiago Town.

During a thunderstorm, a miracle occurred in this small town on the U.S. border.

In the middle of the barren wilderness beside the highway, a circular pit several meters in diameter inexplicably appeared after the thunderstorm.

There was a hammer in the pit.

A passing driver discovered the hammer, but couldn't pull it out no matter how hard he tried. After failing, he told his friends, and the news spread like wildfire.

People saw it as a miracle.

The news also included a photo, which was exactly how Anton remembered him.

"Thor?"

Anton narrowed his eyes.

Thor's appearance meant that the New York battle in Avengers 1 was only a few months away.

"Looks like there isn't much time for a vacation!"

Elsewhere.

S.H.I.E.L.D. also received the news in advance.

This kind of "paranormal" event would undoubtedly arouse S.H.I.E.L.D.'s suspicion.

After receiving the order, Coulson quickly went to Pantiago Town and arrived near the circular pit.

Seeing the hammer that no one could lift, as well as the mysterious runes around it, his expression was strange.

This scene... he seemed to have seen it somewhere before!

Coulson pondered for a moment, then widened his eyes, revealing a look of shock.

Wonder Woman!!

Similar runes had appeared in the Wonder Woman movie! Or rather, ancient writing!

On Themyscira, the home of the Amazons, in the cave where the female lead Diana retrieved the so-called Godkiller Weapon, the sword left by Zeus, similar ancient writing was embedded.

"Gulp!"

Coulson swallowed hard, he watched the movie very carefully and was sure he hadn't remembered wrong.

Thinking about it, he wished he could slap himself for leaving before Anton had a chance to speak when he was watching the movie.

"Someone come here!"

He ordered in a low voice.

"Yes, sir!"

"Find someone to study these writings… Also, book the town's movie theater, and get some people with cameras to come with me."

"What? We're going to the movies? And bring cameras… to record it?"

The agent was stunned. Seeing Coulson's expression, he immediately became serious: "Uh, what I mean is, what movie?"

"Wonder Woman!"
