Chapter 35 - Chapter 35:"The Last Page Was Blank"

The world screamed.

The static swallowed the sky. Riel and Eren's blades collided, sparks of corrupted light scattering into the void as the system's final defenses closed in. Every line of code, every forgotten NPC, every deleted fragment of the game lashed out like claws, desperate to protect its story.

And Aki stood at the center of it all, diary in hand.

The cover trembled in his grip. The pages flipped wildly on their own, flashing through everything he had written, everything he had lived since the day he awoke as "Riel Arkwood." His fears, his doubts, his anger — every word was etched in black ink, carved into the story like scars.

Until the book stopped on the last page.

Empty.

Waiting.

[SYSTEM OVERRIDE: DENIED]

[FINAL FLAG LOCKED]

[NO INPUT PERMITTED]

The system tried to resist, but the blankness was its weakness. A story unfinished was a door left open.

Aki's hands shook, but his heart did not.

He uncapped the pen.

Riel's voice rang out, sharp and desperate.

"Stop! If you erase the system, there'll be nothing left! No routes, no world, no us!"

Eren's blade pulsed with searing light, his words like judgment.

"You don't belong here, Aki. You were never meant to exist. End this before you take everything with you."

Aki looked at them both — the hero who was never his, the protagonist who wanted his story back. Once, he would have bent under their weight. Once, he would have accepted being called a mistake.

But not anymore.

"This was never my story to begin with," Aki whispered. His voice carried across the void. "And that's exactly why I'm ending it."

The pen touched paper.

The page shivered with light, brighter than the collapsing sky. The system's voice boomed in fury:

[CRITICAL ERROR.]

[OVERRIDE DETECTED.]

[FORCE SHUTDOWN IMMINENT.]

Reality itself cracked. The void shattered into fragments, revealing endless layers of past loops: a hundred versions of Riel's story, branching and breaking, all chained by the same fate. Aki saw them flicker past — Riel dying in one route, Celis smiling hollowly in another, Eren triumphing again and again while everything else was sacrificed.

An infinite prison of endings.

And in the middle of it, he was free.

The diary glowed as words burned onto the final page, each one steady, deliberate:

"If you wake up in my place… Live your own story."

No commands. No warnings. No instructions.

Just freedom.

Riel's blade faltered, his body trembling as the words burned across the void.

"You… you're erasing me." His voice cracked — a mix of fury and grief. "Do you think you can just… overwrite everything I am?"

Aki looked at him, not with hate, not with pity, but with a quiet, tired smile.

"I'm not overwriting you. I'm setting you free too. No more loops. No more roles. No more scripts."

Eren staggered back, clutching his chest as the light consumed him. For a moment — just a fleeting, fragile moment — his eyes softened. The coldness melted, replaced by a glimmer of recognition.

"…Aki?"

The light swallowed him before he could say more.

The void collapsed inward. The code disintegrated, shattering into particles of white light. The diary glowed so brightly it burned Aki's hands, but he didn't let go. He stepped forward, into the unraveling core of the system.

And for the first time, he wasn't afraid.

"I was never meant to be Riel Arkwood. I was never meant to be the hero. Or the villain."

The last fragments of the world peeled away, leaving only the blinding whiteness of the unwritten page.

"I'm Aki. And that's enough."

He smiled — a small, tired, defiant smile — as the system collapsed, as the diary dissolved into light, as the story ended not with a script but with silence.

And then… nothing.

No routes. No flags. No resets.

Just a blank page.

When the light faded, there was no world left. Only whiteness. Silence.

And on a desk that had no place in any reality, a diary rested, closed. Its cover was plain, its pages untouched.

On the very last page, one line of handwriting glowed faintly:

"If you wake up in my place… live your own story."

The words lingered.

Waiting.

For whoever came next.
