It was almost ten in the morning when I finally woke up. My phone was ringing loudly on the nightstand, dragging me out of a deep sleep. I groaned and rolled over to the left side of the bed. Nala and Jasmine had already left for work. Wait… now that Nala and I had made up, did that mean I wasn't fired anymore? I really needed to ask her about that later.
I blindly reached for my phone, trying to avoid the bright sunlight pouring into the room. After a few attempts, I finally grabbed it and checked the screen. It was Ivy. Shit. She probably wanted to talk about that night.
I answered with a sleepy voice.
"Hello?"
"Evan?" Ivy asked softly. "Sorry, did I wake you up? You sound really tired."
"Kinda," I replied, yawning. "What's up?"
"I, uh…" She hesitated. "I don't really know what to say. I just wanted to thank you… for bringing me home that night."
"Oh… yeah. No problem," I said. "That's what friends are for."
"Yeah…"
