I honestly didn't know how I pulled it off.
Somehow, I managed to act like everything was normal. Like nothing happened. Like Eric never kissed me. Like he never looked me in the eye afterward and said he liked me—only to follow it up with "You shouldn't have come back." and all of it happened in one day.
As if my entire existence was suddenly an inconvenience on his carefully planned schedule.
And somehow, Eric was acting normal too. Too normal. Smiling, joking, leading the group like the dependable captain he always was.
It was almost unsettling.
The good news?
The group dynamics seemed to have improved. Everyone was laughing more, talking more.
The awkward tension that hung over us when we first arrived had thinned out like mist under the morning sun.
The bad news?
My dynamics within the group were a complete mess.
No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't erase what Eric said to me. The way he saw me as an obstacle still stung.
