12 – Becoming King Arthur
"It looks big," Alex said as they entered the place. The entrance was guarded by a team of hunters who verified their identification, even though they already knew Ana.
"Don't say that until you see the testing and training rooms. Then you'll see what really is big," Joana said with a smile as she swiped her card through the entry device.
Right at the entrance, there were several people wearing similar uniforms, but with certain details that distinguished them as belonging to different departments within the building.
People went up and down using the five service elevators; occasionally, some were seen preferring the stairs. The place was clearly very busy, with countless footsteps tapping against the floor, creating a unique cacophony combined with the voices of the public servants.
Joana led Alex to an elevator and selected the floor using the control panel. The elevator descended to the underground levels.
When they arrived at the designated floor, a woman in a suit approached them.
"Hunter Joana, how are you? And what brings you to the Association's testing floors?"
The young woman sounded surprised to see Joana walking side by side with someone she had never seen before. What could one say? Women liked to gossip.
"This is a recruit of the Association. I need a comprehensive evaluation of his abilities, with all unbound items removed from his inventory."
Being personally brought in by Miss Joana, the public servant couldn't help but evaluate Alex from head to toe.
"Sir, please come with me."
The public servant led Alex to the counter to complete his registration.
"Place your hand on the panel."
When he did, he felt and saw his storage being cleared, leaving only two swords inside.
"Very well. Now enter the room at the end of the corridor on the right to collect your attribute data."
The servant directed Alex to enter the white room located on the opposite side from where they had come.

As soon as Alex returned to the public servant's side, he saw her furiously typing on the holographic screen, a frown on her face.
"Sir, could you enter again? The data collected doesn't seem to match correctly. I need to run the analysis again."
Without saying a single word, Alex returned to the white room and was once again surrounded by light.
"I apologize, sir, but the data still doesn't seem correct. You'll have to go once more."
The public servant seemed somewhat embarrassed.
It was already the fifth time Alex had returned from the white room.
"Sir, could you please recite your attribute panel for me? I need to make a comparison."
Seeing that the results hadn't changed despite all the attempts, the servant asked Alex in an embarrassed tone.
Even though it was her first month working in this department, she had considerable experience with the technology used to manage hunters. Unfortunately, something as simple as data collection was becoming unexpectedly difficult.
According to the form she was updating, the young man in front of her had awakened less than a month ago and had experienced his second awakening as a one-star hunter the day before. According to the data in his panel, his attributes were similar to those of a two-star hunter in their initial phase.
Alex opened his system attribute window. Since he wasn't equipping any of his weapons, his attributes were in their base form.
"Level 23, Star Level 1, Strength 40, Agility 60, Intermediate Fencing 24, Lightning Step 1, HP and MP 200."
As he said this, he noticed that the girl's mouth seemed to fall open.
"Is something wrong?"
"No, it's just that your base attributes seem very high, but their overall quantity also seems very low compared to your peers."
"Is that bad?" Alex asked vigilantly.
"No, on the contrary, sir. You are very strong, but quite unbalanced."
Pausing for a moment, the girl continued her explanation.
"Since you have already reached level 23, three levels above the minimum required, you are eligible to acquire a class. Do you wish to obtain one? Once you are promoted, the problem will be resolved."
Alex knew that hunters were required to acquire a class after reaching level 20 because the maximum level a classless individual could reach was level 25. Beyond that level, their attributes could no longer increase.
"What is necessary to acquire a class?"
Alex asked anxiously.
The girl quickly operated a holographic window displaying the requirements necessary for the process.
"You are part of the Association and have already cleared a dungeon at the request of the Hunters' Association, as confirmed by a senior member, Miss Joana. Therefore, you meet the requirements to proceed."
"Aside from the restriction on level increases, what are the advantages of acquiring a class?"
Alex wanted to know the benefits so he could choose a class that best suited him.
Taking a moment to think about it, the servant replied:
"The benefits vary greatly by class, but generally, by obtaining one as a one-star hunter, you will gain +2 to all attributes with each level-up. The acquisition of a class varies greatly from person to person."
"Alright, what should I do now?"
"You can go to the fifth room on the left, and I will unlock the protocol for you."
The servant pointed to another room where Alex needed to go. This underground department was truly large, with numerous rooms serving different purposes and functions.
The room in question was enormous. When Alex entered, there was a crystal on a magic circle illuminated by lights of vibrant colors.
As instructed, Alex approached the center and placed his hand on the crystal, which glowed slightly in response. Immediately afterward, a system notification sounded.
You have been exposed to a class assignment crystal. Do you wish to acquire a class? Yes/No
His fingers clicked "Yes" on the translucent screen floating right in front of the crystal. A blinding light enveloped him for a second; however, nothing else happened. If it weren't for the system notice, Alex would have thought he had failed the task.
(Congratulations, user. You have unlocked your class. It has been assigned by the system based on your experience and bound items.)

Since he didn't feel any change, Alex opened his system attribute window.

Alex was stunned by his new system attribute window; it was simply enormous. Counting the interim stats, he had a total of 11 attributes, 6 active skills, and 7 passive skills. Most of his skills were at low levels, and some had undergone alterations.
Alex wanted to test all his skills and the effects of his new attributes, but unfortunately, he had to save it for later, as his registration was still in progress.
As a result of the class change, he apparently seemed to walk differently, and what he could perceive of his surroundings was slightly different from usual. The public servant girl sent him back to the white room again.
"Congratulations on acquiring your class, sir. Here is your employee card."
Alex received a card with his photo and some basic information; a golden star adorned the card.
"You may proceed to the 7th floor. Miss Joana is waiting for you to continue with the onboarding process."
Seeing Alex sigh, the girl reassured him.
"Don't worry, sir. Miss Joana will test your skills, and then you will be assigned to a department and may return tomorrow to start working."
The girl gave him a sweet smile.
"Alright, thank you for everything."
Alex said goodbye in a chivalrous gesture, one he didn't even realize he had made.
With rhythmic and elegant steps, Alex walked toward the elevator he had come from. Then, his heart skipped a beat, his steps froze, and his eyes fixed on a figure with purple hair and a slender appearance who had just exited the elevator.
