Chasing an Assassin

The moment he saw Alex resisting his poison and moving at a speed that surpassed his reaction, combined with the alarm that went off several times in his head, the assassin started running.
The masked figure seemed to merge with the night; he leaped from building to building through dark areas, and when he moved, his body made no sound.
It was as if his boots absorbed the sound of his steps, and the dark cloak he wore absorbed the sound of the air and provided him with camouflage in the darkness.
Even if someone looked directly where the assassin was, they would see nothing but the surrounding environment.
The alarm went off in his head once again; he stopped mid-step and made an acrobatic jump backward. Right where he had been, the metal post was sliced like butter under a knife if he had taken one second longer to move, his head would be rolling.
