The remaining three spiders coordinated. They turned their rears at Reidar's army, and their spinnerets fired in unison, creating a web barrier between them and Reidar's forces that connected from a side of the street to the other.
The webbing blocked line of sight. The Rift-Sprites' fire attacks started burning the sticky substance, but didn't reach the spiders.
Reidar frowned. He couldn't let them escape and used Root Grasp to prevent the monsters from leaving the area.
Restraining them became a ghastly affair, which drained Reidar's mana while his contuberniums took care of the web. In the end, the gloom-web burned, and Reidar's summoned creatures reached the beasts.
The spiders broke formation, forced to defend from multiple angles. The Rift-Sprites themselves resumed their barrage. Ice froze one spider's joints. Fire melted through another's carapace. Stone shattered the third's mandibles.
