"Brrr~!"
On a narrow path not far from the guild, Ur suddenly shivered as a strange sense of unease crept up his spine.
"Why do I feel… weirdly gross all of a sudden?"
Crossing his arms, he rubbed them briskly, feeling an inexplicable discomfort.
He had no idea why. He felt a strange mix of guilt, shame, and embarrassment… all at once.
It was weird, kind of like how he'd felt when he'd shamelessly asked Grandma Isse if he could stay over.
But not quite the same.
Honestly, it was hard to even put into words.
"Whatever. Let's just get this mission done first."
Shaking his head to dispel the lingering awkwardness, Ur quickly focused his mind back on the task at hand.
To be honest, these past couple of weeks, he'd nearly gotten sick of grinding D-Class missions. Not because they were too boring or too repetitive, mind you.
But because the rewards were garbage!
He needed 100,000J to unlock Level 3 System Membership.
Over the past half-month, he had busted his butt completing nearly twenty D-Class missions, yet still hadn't scraped together enough for the upgrade.
"C-Class missions really are where it's at…"
He glanced down at the mission form in his hand: Boar Extermination.
A sense of satisfaction rose in his chest.
The payout?
55,000J.
Not a fortune, but considering his current skill level, this was the perfect kind of mission.
C-Class missions began at around 30,000 J, significantly higher than D-Class jobs.
The difference?
While still not exactly dangerous, C-Class missions usually involved some form of combat. Granted, not serious mage-level combat, but enough that someone could get hurt if they weren't careful.
After over twenty days of training, Ur's abilities had grown significantly. All his attributes had seen noticeable increases.
Invincible Passive System
Host: Wei Yi (Ur)
Passive Skills: Void Hunger, Lava Body
Health: 14
Magic Power: 16
Mental Strength: 19
Magic Resistance: 0%
Armor: 1%
As he trained, Ur began noticing the differences between his stats. Compared to Magic Power and Mental Strength, his Health had noticeably slowed down after reaching a certain point.
But that didn't surprise him.
Every world has its own rules.
And in this world, it was obvious.
Magic was king.
Magic Power was the most critical attribute for any mage, and it also scaled up the fastest.
Besides, even though Ur still looked a bit on the lean side, his physical strength was already 50% stronger than the average adult man.
For a mage, that was pretty darn solid.
After all, not every mage was a freakish Dragon Slayer.
The "Boar Extermination" mission had been posted by a farmer on the outskirts of Magnolia. Lately, a wild boar had wandered into his farm and started wreaking havoc. It tore up his crops, digging trenches, the whole nine yards. And it wasn't just once or twice.
The beast seemed to have marked the farm as its playground, showing up every night like clockwork, leaving destruction in its wake. The farmer had tried organizing a few attempts to trap or drive it away, but they had all failed miserably.
In desperation, he finally turned to Fairy Tail for help.
The farm wasn't far from the guild, so Ur arrived at the location quickly.
Sweeping his eyes around, the farmland wasn't huge. Most of the crops were vegetables. But quite a few had already been trampled or shredded.
In the center of the field stood a simple grass-roofed hut.
Walking to the edge of the farm, Ur called out. "Anyone there?"
Right as the words left his mouth, a short, chubby figure slowly emerged from the hut.
A middle-aged man, his face etched with a deep, worn-out frown. "Can I help you?" He asked cautiously, spotting Ur.
"I'm a mage from Fairy Tail. I'm here to complete the mission." Ur cut to the chase. He didn't feel like wasting time.
He held up the mission form and revealed the guild emblem on his chest.
The farmer blinked in surprise.
"You're here! Thank the heavens, you're finally here!" The man froze for a second, then suddenly burst into tears.
Tears and snot were flying in all directions. "If you hadn't come, I don't know how I'd survive!"
Ur's stomach turned at the sight. "Whoa—sir, please calm down. Let's talk like normal people."
With practiced ease, Ur slid his hands free and took a polite step back.
In this world, mages held high social status. It wasn't unusual for people to refer to them with the honorific "-sama" or call them "Sir/Madam."
"You don't understand, Sir Mage! That damn pig… that damn pig's ruined me!"
The farmer had been moaning nonstop since Ur arrived. Clearly, this wild boar had traumatized the poor man badly. His panic didn't look like an act.
"If you hadn't shown up, I'd be finished this year!"
Ur did feel kind of sorry for him…
But strangely, he also didn't.
In fact, he kind of wanted to laugh.
Suppressing the strange urge to chuckle, Ur cleared his throat and said. "Alright, let's start by having you tell me everything you know about the boar."
