"Ahhh!!!"
A loud gasp escaped Amara as she was yanked from the spot.
The world around her started spinning a little when her body finally touched the ground.
The drop wasn't harsh or violent.
The wolf laid her down with a gentleness that definitely did not match its size or fangs.
It gradually lowered her with care,in a reverent deliberation…as if setting her onto sacred soil.
Her back met the earth with a soft thud, and the trance…the valley's pull frosting over her eyes…shattered like thin ice cracking under a single breath.
Another loud gasp tore out of her.
Air rushed back into her lungs with a painful jolt, and her eyes flew wide, pupils shaking as she blinked back into reality.
A subtle stillness washed over everything.
The world moved like it was wading through water.
Dust rose in lazy spirals around her.
Leaves drifted overhead like falling feathers.
But it was the wolf who held attention.
Even as it pinned her down, its scent anchored her.
