"Are you sure you are okay?"
Yor asked with pure worry and to Sekinin's view, he could tell Yor was possibly going to do something to Yuri that could halt his recovery.
Not that Yor would do that intentionally; it just depends on whether Yor decided to make him something and bring it here herself. That's what she did, and Sekinin can sense the wrapped meal Yor prepared for Yuri.
A meal that would have made both of them want to spit it out the moment it even touched a millisecond in their mouths. Yet swallow and digest just to keep her happy. Which was why both he and Yuri are more durable than they look, because of the times Yor had been the one who would cook should it ever be her turn or when she visits him.
Heck, it was why Uncle Ben and Aunt May ensured she wouldn't go near the kitchen. They love her dearly and deeply; they would count on her to be the best big sister to Sekinin. But when it comes to cooking, yeah Uncle Ben would rather take Aunt May's meatloaf, not that he would admit that directly to May.
"Big sis I'm alright. Really, just small rubble fell on me. Nothing too serious."
"Small rubble, he says."
Sekinin mutters, because when he arrived at the damage department he instantly went to look for Yuri. And found him trying to lift up heavy debris that was stuck on him. Along with some of his coworkers trying to lift up the heavy debris but couldn't. Only for Sekinin as Spider-Man to easily lift it.
Of course, he nearly didn't leave unscathed. Because the moment he made himself known, some of the cops who were ordered by their boss to capture him weeks prior, tried to gun Spider-Man. Only for Yuri to, almost, fight his own coworkers on his own to protect him.
But his injuries remind the other cops that Yuri needed medical attention. Which was why what he tried to do seemed like he tried to capture Spider-Man too, but in reality he would have taken down his own workforce just to protect his little brother.
It's not like Sekinin was actually hurt; just his suit needs another repair, again. But he can be certain that once Yuri recovers, he would ensure his coworkers would do extra work even if none of them knew why.
Still, Sekinin took the time to personally be here to see Yuri recover. Plus, that aching feeling in his chest didn't even lift. Not until he saw Yuri see him and Yor the moment they entered. And when he saw him just taking the damage like it was nothing made the aching vanish in an instant.
Like a few moments ago, Sekinin sprinted and hugged Yuri as if what he thought the worst hadn't come to be. Heck Yuri was slightly stunned but tightly hugged him back as he just assumed it was massive sibling feeling energy.
Anyways back to now. Yuri looked around the room before asking a question.
"Hey, where are Aunt May and Uncle Ben?"
"The two of them are speaking with the doctor regarding how long you are going to be here for."
The mention of the doctor made Sekinin slightly falter. He recalled the conversation with Doctor Gorou regarding Sarina's… She doesn't deserve this, she…
Sekinin was having a mental problem in his head, trying to wonder if what he had suggested would be a good idea or not.
Before he could get the chance to even think of his answer, the door to the room opened. Sekinin fully expected to see Gorou and was prepared to act like he didn't know him as clearly the doctor knows Spider-Man.
But to Sekinin's surprise, it wasn't Gorou; it was actually Loid. This made Sekinin feel embarrassed that he forgot Loid was also working here as a doctor. Without hesitation, Sekinin let go of Yuri and ran straight to Loid.
"Loid! Yuri is going to be okay, right?"
Loid was surprised by the sudden hug, but smiled nevertheless as he patted Sekinin's shoulder.
"Mr. Briar is going to be a fine Sekinin. He just needs to get some rest before we can discharge him."
Sekinin nodded, not only trusting Loid's words but also because again Yuri would have recovered either way.
"S-Sekinin? Do you know this man?"
Yor asked genuinely surprised that Sekinin went to hug a stranger. A hug that Yor could tell was a sibling-type of hug.
Meanwhile, Yuri looked like he had been given a lemon as his face looked like he had been cheated out of the title of favorite brother.
"H-Hey! Who gave you the right to pat my younger brother's shoulder!?"
Yuri pointed accusingly at Loid while Loid looked at Yuri in confusion. Before Sekinin suddenly sensed it and possibly Yor too, they had to hold down Yuri before he jumped off his bed. Sekinin went back and held Yuri back while Yor was helping as well.
"Yuri! It's okay, Loid is someone I trust like a big brother."
As if that sentence was meant to calm Yuri down, it only made him nearly cough up blood.
"Is there a problem? My apologies if I did something that upset my patients?"
"No! No. It's alright Loid. Yuri sometimes overreacts."
Sekinin turned and told Loid while shaking his right hand up and down.
"Uh, Sekinin, may I ask who this man is? I couldn't help but hear that you said he is like your big brother."
Yor asked while looking at the handsome blonde man. Meanwhile, Loid noticed the woman he looked at and her younger brothers.
"(Is this man really a brother to Sekinin? Sure he looks nice, but how come I have not met him?)"
"(Hmm… This woman, a normal office clerk. Her brother is also the police captain. Did father ever mention Sekinin having other sibling figures?)"
The two approached each other as they began to start a conversation. Loid offered a handshake.
"I don't believe we have met. I am Loid Forger, I couldn't help but wonder how you and your brother know Sekinin. I met him when he was little with my late father introducing him to me. Back when he was a toddler."
Yor shook his hand, noting how soft the grip was as a little blush formed on her face.
"I-I'm Yor Briar! I, uh, we met when my late mother introduced Sekinin to my brother and me. Back when he was a baby."
Suddenly Sekinin realized something. He saw Yor and Yuri on different occasions whenever they came by. And it was the same for Loid. He knew he met them when he was a little boy, but he never really thought of what he was currently realizing.
He never once saw all three of them in one place in one room. Even when he was little, like whenever he was with his mother, sometimes she would bring Yor and Yuri for outings. Whenever it was a hike in the mountains. Or a relaxing day for a picnic.
With his father, it was sometimes that he brought Loid. Whenever it was fishing, or a movie, or possibly bowling.
But as he mentioned, Sekinin never once saw his mom inviting Loid, or his father inviting both Yor and Yuri. It wasn't that they didn't know the other adopted other kids. Heck, even his parents knew about the other children back when he was a baby.
And he even saw the others with both parents. Like his mom and dad congratulated Loid for achieving wonderful grades to earn an honor degree. Them being proud of Yuri for managing to reach university so young. Them taking Yor out for a trip she for some reason, desperately wanted to go and he was there because it was in the countryside.
So, just to clarify in case Sekinin was just thinking of random words being put together if what he thought of made no sense. That this, this very moment, was his adopted siblings' first meeting.
"Uh, Loid, Yor, did, did mom or dad ever introduce you both to each other?"
As if his question had stopped time, it certainly did for Loid and Yor. They slowly turned to look at Sekinin before they turned back to each other.
"Was, was your mother's name Mary?"
Yor's eyes widened as if she had just heard Sekinin had a child. Not sure what Sekinin thought that was the case or why thinking a child would match why she reacted like that.
"Y-Yes! Her name is Mary, Mary Parker! Was your father's name Richard?"
Loid's eyes widened as he nodded, and Yuri's jaw seemed like it was trying to crack through the floor.
Before anything more could be said, the door opened again as Sekinin saw a familiar face. Gorou.
"Doctor Forger, we need you to do surgery on a patient who was rushed here after an accident!"
Loid's eyes sharpened as he nodded before looking at Yor.
"My apologies, as much as I wish to discuss more regarding my father and your mother, I am needed immediately."
Yor didn't mind, instead smiling and telling him to go rescue and save the patient. Sekinin watches this… Strange interaction. Like, it was meant for the two to speak with each other. He couldn't put the words, but it felt like it was meant to be.
Either way, Sekinin watches Loid leave with Doctor Gorou as Sekinin slowly approaches his big sister. He began to whisper in her ear.
"I know you both may be my adopted siblings. But, how should I say this to not make it sound weird or bad? But, uh, technically it really isn't a taboo as far as I know mainly because of this first interaction with you both."
Yor blushes so much that Sekinin's spider sense instantly flared causing him to duck just in time from an instant arm swing. So fast that Sekinin felt like he saw a bat being swung too hard to ensure a home run. And he was the ball if he hadn't dodged it in time.
"Okay! Okay! Sorry if that was too much for you!"
She instantly realized what she was doing before instantly apologizing to Sekinin. But the two stayed with Yuri longer. And during that time, Sekinin said to Yor that he wanted to use the bathroom and excused himself.
And narrowly left the room as he knew Yuri would have realized there was a bathroom in the room before Sekinin managed to get through the door.
Once he was in the hallway, Sekinin took a deep breath, looked around, and saw that he was alone in the empty hallway as he began to walk in a direction. He knew where he was going, to see Sarina, but, as himself.
Sekinin was surprised he didn't run into Aunt May and Uncle Ben. Actually, now that he thought about it. If Loid was Yuri's doctor, wait, Sekinin realized they were catching up with Loid. If so, then where are they? Were they in the hallways before noticing Loid and Gorou rushing to save a life and deciding to follow too?
As much as he wishes to think more about it, he thought of what his other half is doing while checking in the aftermath of the damage to the destroyed police department. And to search for clues. His other half has his suit; he doesn't. So, why not act like a person who just decided to visit a stranger while also visiting someone in the hospital?
Sekinin reached the familiar door and memorized the number. He hesitantly raised his hand, formed a fist, and softly knocked on the door three times.
Sekinin waited until he heard the soft voice of Sarina saying "Come in." Sekinin entered the room.
Sekinin realized the curtains were closed, as the only sort of light came from the TV. Sekinin looked at the screen as it showcased the current update on the sudden attack on the police department.
Shocker has once again escaped custody. Sekinin's fist clenched; did the Goblin want Shocker? Was that why he bombed the place just to reach him? But he put the thought out of the way; his main attention was the girl who was currently staring at him.
"Who… Are you?"
Sarina's voice was quiet and a little raspy. Something Sekinin noted immediately. Sekinin suddenly realized something about her, her eyes, it had a dark ring that looked like it was becoming visible. Had she been getting sleep? Did she have trouble sleeping?
Or, was this what Gorou meant when she had possibly… Sekinin wonders how he did not notice that when he literally saw her just an hour ago?
"Hi, I'm Sekinin Parker, sorry, I just… I wanted to see if there was someone I could… Talk with someone."
Sarina looks for a few more seconds before smiling, Sekinin's heart skipping a beat. Even if she may know or not, she was still smiling. Trying to be positive.
"I'm Sarina Tendouji."
As if a nervous bomb had erupted inside, no other words were spoken. Leading to an awkward moment of silence. Until Sarina asked Sekinin a question.
"Are you here for someone? It doesn't make sense if you just came here alone."
Sekinin looked down for a moment. He knew what he could say would make Sarina's smile falter a bit. He didn't wish to put salt all over her wounds. He knew that if he said that just for caring about a family member.
He would unintentionally hurt her. He tried to look around, thinking of an excuse, only for him to freeze.
On a whiteboard on the wall, he saw two sentences written in a black marker. The first sentence says "Don't you want to see your mother?" A question asking a patient. The second sentence says "But my mother hates me."
Sekinin stares at the whiteboard, just wondering how he was ever going to respond. Or, even think of what to say. What was he supposed to say after reading that?
"Parker-kun?"
Sarina softly called out to Sekinin. Noticing that he was staring at the whiteboard where she wrote her response to her question. It was becoming more awkward and there was a slight tension in the room. Sekinin took a deep breath, calmly approaching Sarina's bed. He sat down next to her.
