After the gate closed, Raiden was astonished and advanced toward Kim, wanting to understand what he had done. He told him in an angry voice:
"Do you think you can stop us? Does the girl have the artifact? Don't dream of surviving."
But Kim looked at him with an eye devoid of any meaning, and said in a cold voice:
"Dreams? What is the meaning of a dream? What is the meaning of dreams anyway? I am tired... I surrender. The future is always the same; all paths lead to perdition and loss."
Words accumulated in Kim's chest as if collapsing upon him:
"I started wondering... what is the meaning of my life? If I hadn't come back to life, everything would have been fine. If I hadn't been born... or if I had been alone, I wouldn't have caused all this pain. Everyone who was with me, their destiny was destruction and sorrow... My mother, my friend, my lover... all of them fell because of me."
Solitude inhabited his heart. He lives in a world that is not his world, a time that is not his time, and a soul that was never loved.
Nevertheless, the question gnawed at his mind:
Should a person change himself for others to love him?
Should he imitate them to become loved, famous, respected?
Then he said in a pained voice:
"And what if they are bad? Should I change to attract their attention? Will I feel happy then? Never..."
He raised his head toward them:
"A person should not change for the sake of others. Be an example to your own soul... The beliefs you held should be maintained. Whoever doesn't care about you today... will return one day for your sake. Don't be a follower of anyone... Perhaps you, at the end of the road, will be the King... and they the followers."
But his voice suddenly broke:
"Yet... no matter how much I believed... my faith was weak, and yet I clung to it like a thread of salvation... but even this thread wounded my hand. Is my ending bad? Is my path dark forever?"
