Lannae's eyes fluttered open, but the brightness of the morning sun quickly forced her to close them again. She remained still for a moment, allowing her eyes to adjust before slowly opening them once more. When her vision finally cleared, she realized she was no longer inside the tower.
She was lying on a soft patch of grass deep within the forest.
Lannae pushed herself upright and looked around, searching for any sign of the tower they had escaped from or the knight who had rescued her. Neither was anywhere in sight. Her gaze eventually fell on her ankle, which had been wrapped with a strip of worn cloth. She carefully touched it, and it didn't take long for her to realize that Benjamin must have treated the injury while she was asleep.
