Chapter 168 - The Truth of the World

"There was an accident on the Howood Avenue a couple of days ago. Three Goblins had their legs broken. I'll give them to you, but don't eat them every day if you don't have to. I still have a use for them!"

Markor said with a bit of helplessness. Goblins were always on the Cyclops' menu. In the stronghold forces, Goblins were all-purpose tools: they could be eaten, sacrificed, and even used as weapons when necessary.

However, Markor's Goblin count was limited, and he couldn't use them as a war resource yet. Moreover, Gao Tai's arrival had directly occupied three slots in the stronghold forces.

Due to the different matching degrees between the World Consciousness and the system, Markor could only use three slots for other faction troops, corresponding to the troops of various factions at levels 4-6.

For now, Markor had basically summoned all the troops of all factions. Now, only the troops of the Hell and Cemetery factions remained unsummoned.

"Thank you, Your Merciful Majesty! I'll be off then. If you're going to fight the enemy, you must call me!"

Gao Tai said in a booming voice, looking a little dorky, completely unlike the iron-blooded Chief Gao Tai of the past.

After signaling Gao Tai to leave, Markor immersed his mind in the system again, opening the long-dormant quest log panel.

While Moonshadow and the others were discussing Gao Tai's strange appearance – the big guy really did look odd, with a huge head, big hands, and only one eye.

Just as Markor was about to check the remaining information, someone lifted the tent flap again. Markor looked over with a touch of helplessness, only to find Brinden.

Brinden approached Markor and saluted, saying, "Your Majesty! This rain is too strange, and 'Green Dream' is also in a strange state. There's no way to communicate, so I had to return early."

Seeing Brinden's dejected look, Markor smiled and comforted him:

"That's the power of the deity behind the mermaids, very similar to the Lord of Light's power. These deities, with the return of magical power, have begun to gradually influence this dimensional world. The appearance of the mermaids isn't just a coincidence; there may be more mysterious races appearing later."

Brinden, hearing this, didn't dwell on the issue and instead said to the door, "Bring her in!"

Subsequently, the tent flap was pulled open, and the Red Priestess, Melisandre, looking haggard, walked in, followed by two Wind Dragon Guard soldiers.

Markor watched the priestess with great interest, the one who frequently showed her power in the original story, a loyal follower of the Lord of Light, a shadowbinder from Asshai, and one of the few who possessed mysterious powers in the entire drama.

This "beauty," despite being over 300 years old, still diligently made sacrifices to the Lord of Light. She provided Markor with a significant amount of R-rated content back then. If he hadn't seen her true appearance in the later TV series…

Markor might have even made her his personal flute-playing attendant! Now, however, the thought sent chills down Markor's spine. His gaze towards Melisandre became quite… strange.

Mayve, noticing Markor's look, jumped to other conclusions. She snorted in disapproval, bringing Markor back to his senses.

He sent Mayve a message of apology, explaining his behavior. He also playfully teased the cold and aloof angel, causing Mayve's face to flush crimson.

Then, Markor composed himself and addressed Melisandre:

"So, you are the legendary Red Priestess, Melisandre…"

"You, the heretical king, who dares to oppose the great Lord of Light, will only become ash in his divine fire. I see from you… Ugh…"

Before Melisandre could finish her curse, Markor cut her off. Danny used the Hydra Whip to ensnare her neck, silencing the rest of her words.

Dark magic was unleashed upon Melisandre, one spell after another. The venom from the Hydra whip slowly spread throughout her body as time passed.

Moonshadow watched Melisandre's surroundings with a calm expression, and said with a touch of melancholy:

"Souls filled with pain and curses surround you. Don't you perceive it at all? These souls have harbored resentment towards you for hundreds of years. Aging will always accompany your body, and chaos will affect your judgment. Don't you know?"

At this moment, the gem necklace around Melisandre's neck suddenly emitted a golden light, causing Markor, who had been watching, to furrow his brow slightly.

Immediately after, a golden light flashed in Melisandre's eyes. She looked towards Markor's position and, with a very strange intonation, said to Markor and the others:

"This broken body can barely support my arrival. Powerful human, who exactly are you? In my memory, there has never been a human like you. Who is the deity behind you?"

The being within Melisandre, although not calling Markor an ant, had an arrogant tone that greatly displeased him. It also allowed Markor to see that this "Lord of Light," like those other gods, was all the same.

"I am just an ordinary human favored by an unknown entity. I am simply following my own heart, wanting to change this cruel world."

Markor crossed his arms, a strange expression on his face. He wanted to see what the Lord of Light, whom he had just hurt, was going to do.

"Human! You are powerful. I can make you my representative in this world. If you are willing to obey me, then this world will be yours. You should know that on the main continent, most are my believers. As long as I bestow miracles, you will instantly possess the most powerful force in this world."

The "Lord of Light," possessing Melisandre's body, spoke to Markor slowly, his tone filled with temptation, as if he could already see the future.

"Hahaha..."

Markor let out peals of laughter, his voice filled with mockery and ridicule, while shaking his head at Melisandre.

"You think I don't know where you come from? You Ed People, the lost ones from the outer world, the creators and destroyers of this world's civilization! Everything you do is actually for your own sake. You want to go home, yet you don't work together, and instead, you fight each other, and in the end, you all end up looking like this!"

Markor was laughing, but then suddenly, the tone changed, and he revealed a shocking secret, causing Melisandre, whose eyes had been glowing, to burst with powerful energy.

"How do you know? You...you...ah..."

The "Lord of Light" within Melisandre hadn't finished speaking when the golden light radiating from her body instantly dimmed, replaced by a crimson glow that spread outwards.

"Of course, I was the one who told Markor! Did you think I was dead just now? I was merely parasitizing your power, so I could understand you lot better. Otherwise, do you really think you were worthy of me using 'Doomsday Judgment' to go down with you?"

A seductive voice echoed beside Markor, and then a humanoid figure formed from energy began to take shape.

But the energy form was too indistinct, and only through the voice and basic outline could one tell it was a woman, or rather, a winged humanoid creature.

"What? You, you dare..."

The golden light erupted with immense pressure, appearing quite formidable. But only Markor knew it was just a bluff.

Through his shared consciousness with the crimson phantom, Markor learned part of the truth of this world. The planet where the Game of Thrones world existed had been in its infancy of civilization over ten thousand years ago.

At that time, humans and other humanoid creatures only used Obsidian as weapons. They had almost no writing or civilization. If given enough time, they might have eventually given rise to their own civilizations.

It's just that this might actually have been influenced by some extraterrestrial visitors, the Ed People. They came from another planet with a magical civilization, or rather, an energy civilization.

This race of beings pushed the use of magic to its absolute limit. Initially, they were humanoid flesh and blood lifeforms, but as they developed themselves and their magical powers, they evolved into something akin to the source of magic itself.

This enabled almost all Ed People to reach a state where their energy wouldn't be depleted, and thus they wouldn't die. They achieved a kind of immortality. But when a civilization reaches its peak, they naturally start to worry about the future of their race.

To ensure the continuation of their race and to explore new worlds, spreading the seeds of their civilization, the Ed People began exploring the surrounding planets and star systems.

After entering the interstellar colonization era, the thinking of some Ed People also began to slowly change. Their civilization was simply too far ahead of the surrounding planets.

All the Ed People were treated as gods, and gradually, through the study of spiritual power, they developed a completely new power system: the faith system.

If in the real world they still faced the possibility of their energy running out and their consciousness dissipating, then in this power system composed of faith, they were truly immortal, omnipotent beings.

From then on, many Ed People enjoyed parasitizing stone statues, savoring the feeling of being worshipped by the masses. Gradually, they began to call themselves gods, believing themselves to be the gods overlooking all beings in the starry sky.

The world of Game of Thrones was located in an unknown galaxy. The "Lord of Light" and his people encountered a terrifying solar storm in space, and the immense energy tore apart their "Rune Spaceship."

Eventually, it crashed in the far north of this world. The surviving Ed People fled to the ancient continent that existed at the time, when the entire planet was just one landmass.

Although some of the most powerful leaders had perished, the "Lord of Light" and his followers, relying on their immense strength, enslaved the humans of this world and established a new civilization.

However, the world's barrenness exceeded the expectations of all the Ed People. As time passed, some of the injured and weaker among them simply vanished due to depleted energy.

Because the "Rune Spaceship" was damaged, many powerful energy-gathering magic arrays couldn't be set up. The surviving Ed People reached a consensus and decided to seal themselves away, using the ship's remaining energy collection devices to gather energy from the stars.

But some of the Ed People had grown accustomed to the benefits of the belief system and didn't want to fall into a boring, dormant state. Therefore, some of them secretly formed an alliance, devising a wicked plan.

They wanted to sacrifice some of their people to awaken the World Consciousness, transforming the world into one where magical energy could be recycled and regenerated. This would grant them immense power, making repairing the spaceship or ruling the world a non-issue.

Finally, at a certain location in the center of the world, the "Lord of Light," having tampered with the sealing pods in advance, cast some of their people into the earth's core.

And the World Consciousness awakened as planned, but during the process of its modification, it was affected by a strange power of origin, leading to unknown changes.

It directly devoured many weak Ed People. Subsequently, the remaining Ed People engaged in a great war against the World Consciousness, which ultimately resulted in the collapse of the World Consciousness, transforming it into an unconscious world rule.

Vast amounts of origin energy mixed throughout the world, and all matter became tainted with this energy. Obsidian in this world, due to its unique properties, stored a large amount of this origin energy.

This war caused the Ed People's modification plan to fail, and the civilization established by the gods was destroyed. The world nearly perished as a result.

Afterward, only a few powerful gods remained among the Ed People: the most powerful, the Death God; the God of Light, the Holy Light God; the God of the Moonlit Night, the Moonlight God; the controller of the ocean, the Sea God; and the controller of the sky, the Sky God.

Although they survived, they suffered the most terrible curse: they were cursed by the World Consciousness. The planets in this universe all have their own operating rules and consciousness.

According to the Ed People's research, a world with world rules was the easiest to control and modify. As long as the magic array was properly arranged, combined with the Ed People's unique rune magic and crystal energy magic, they could transform the world into a magic world suitable for them.

The World Consciousness was more difficult to deal with. It was like a child, needing to be guided slowly, allowing the World Consciousness to accept the modification peacefully.

Just the "Lord of Light" and the others were the lower-level personnel on the spaceship, and they didn't have such complex technology. Coupled with the shortage of resources and personnel, these high-and-mighty gods took a huge fall.

Being cursed by the World Consciousness is a terrifying thing, because it, to some extent, represents the operating mechanisms and rules of this world. It can be said that it represents the existence of reality and illusion.

Affected by the curse of the World Consciousness, all the Ed People were sealed. They were directly sealed in another dimension of this world, becoming a part of the World Consciousness's supplement.

All the Ed People, because of this curse, became something neither human nor ghost, and their power was also reduced to the lowest level.

However, the remaining Ed People used their life-saving methods, cutting their consciousness and energy in a certain proportion, escaping the curse of the World Consciousness, and minimizing the impact.

They also benefited from this misfortune, becoming beings that could influence the origin of the world. After that, the Ed gods fell into a deep sleep. Once their lowest-level slave race, the Edlings, became the largest and most numerous survivors in the world.

The Edlings collected the relics of the gods, learned their advanced culture, and became the masters of the continent. Without the oppression of the Ed gods, their civilization developed rapidly.

In less than 2,000 years, their civilization had developed to a very glorious level, and they almost found the wreckage of the spaceship in the extreme north.

Afterward, the Sea God and the Sky God, who were the least injured, woke up first. They discovered this newborn civilization. After using their divine identities to contact the Ed People, the Ed Gods did not receive the same respect and worship as before.

The Ed People merely regarded them as somewhat more powerful beings, demanding that both sides coexist peacefully. This was an insult to the "high and mighty" Ed Gods, and thus the first conflict erupted between them.

This time, these two slightly weaker gods immediately hit a wall. The Sky God was directly erased from the Ed People's consciousness, becoming entirely a part of the world's rules.

The Sea God, however, escaped this fate, quietly licking its wounds in the shadows. In a certain area deep within the ocean, it encountered its kin who had become incredibly terrifying after being sacrificed.

These Ed Gods, sacrificed but not completely vanished, had become twisted and filled with...
