Childhood Echoes
Her lips curled up into a smile a soft reminder of something that stuck with him. "My childhood darling."
Her words were like a string between them, not heavy but strong and they pulled on his chest in ways he did not expect. She said a name that only his heart remembered and for a moment all the walls he built around himself started to fall. The evening smelled like dirt after rain and flowers from away and it quietly watched the closeness, between them that they did not want to talk about but both felt very deeply so deeply that they could not find the right words to say it. The evening and her words and the smell of soil and faraway flowers all mixed together to make him feel things he did not know how to say. Her words and the evening and the smell of the flowers were all connected to the name she said. It made him feel strange and unsure of what to do.
