Eina stacked a fresh set of papers onto the desk and adjusted her glasses with her finger.
"Alright, Mr. Cranel. Before anything else, we need to cover several rookie hazards you must absolutely avoid if you plan on surviving the dungeon."
Bell sat straighter, hands on his knees like a student.
Hestia leaned forward as well to listen.
While Kaelis remained in the back, arms folded.
Eina cleared her throat and began with the tone of someone who had repeated this speech at least a hundred times.
"First. Most beginners die because they panic. The Dungeon is not a forest—not a place you can run blindly through."
Bell nodded seriously.
"Second—overconfidence. New adventurers tend to think the lower floor's monsters don't pose a threat and underestimate the danger but usually end up dead."
"Just because you receive the blessings of a god and gain an increase in physical abilities, it doesn't give you the liberty to act recklessly. Keep that in mind."
Bell swallowed as he nodded.
Eina continued.
"Thirdly. Never go deeper than the fifth floor unless you know you know the previous floors from memory—as a matter a fact, I recommend you stay with the confines of the third floor."
Her voice sounded serious.
"Even if you feel strong, even if you think you can push yourself—don't. Monsters scale aggressively."
She tapped the paper with her pen.
"Fourth. Running away is not shameful. It is survival. Learn when to fall back."
Bell nodded more vigorously now.
Kaelis hummed under his breath—quiet enough not to interrupt, but enough that Eina's eyes glanced his way.
Even though she was addressing the bell, her message was clearly meant for Kaelis, the supposed master.
While Bell's naivete was written all over his face, Kaelis was listening intently to her words and taking them seriously.
This was easily picked up by both Kaelis and Hestia. Only Bell was oblivious to this fact.
Her eyes softened at knowing that even though Bell might not take her words to heart, his master might get through to him.
She smiled before moving on.
"For your first dives, you should carry a beginner's knife or short sword, light protective armor, gloves, and a proper magic stone pouch. If you don't have a weapon ye—"
Kaelis spoke calmly.
"He already has a sword. We left it at home."
Eina blinked, pausing.
"Oh. In that case—"
"And," Kaelis continued, so as to give this advisor some assurance, "he's trained intensely to wield it. Including combat fundamentals."
Bell stiffened slightly at being talked about in such a blunt, clinical way—but he didn't deny any of it.
Eina looked between the two.
Her voice sharpened.
"Is that so?"
Kaelis nodded.
Bell added quickly, "M-Master trained me for years! S-sword drills every morning and evening and—um—combat sparring."
Kaelis gave a small approving nod.
"His skill with a sword is enough to fight evenly with stronger enemies."
Bell blushed at the words of his master.
Eina took a slow breath.
"…That actually helps a lot," she admitted honestly.
"Training outside the Dungeon isn't enough to make you invincible, but it does greatly reduce your chances of panicking during your first encounter."
Bell felt a bit of pride warm his chest.
Kaelis's outward reaction didn't change much, but his posture relaxed a bit—like he was satisfied Eina understood.
"However," Eina continued, tone firm as she lectured, "even with training, remember that your body is still Level 1. That means your physical capacity is far below most of the things you'll eventually fight."
Bell deflated as he nodded.
"That's why today's focus is understanding danger and avoiding unnecessary risks."
She pulled out a detailed monster drawing.
"Goblin: small, fast, unpredictable. They are capable of dodging—though it's limited to sideways. Strike the torso or head—it's their weakest point."
The drawing was extremely detailed, better than most art Kaelis has seen before.
On it was the little bugger with notes on the side.
Flipping the pages, another drawing showed a dark figure.
"War Shadows…avoid for now. They move erratically and have a dangerous reach with their claws."
She went on to explain further on the specific monsters that roam the higher floors and in no time they approached the end of their debriefing.
And as Eina was searching her papers, using the opportunity, Kaelis decided to make a request.
"In the future meetings, could you give him details on the monster's behaviors and possibly attack patterns he might come across on certain floors?"
Eina looked up in questioning.
Bell looked between them, confused.
Hestia who was making her way towards the door paused.
Eina then responded.
"Sure, I can do that. Why?"
"I would very much rather he knows what to expect on early floors. Like how fast the monsters and such. Estimations influence footwork."
Bell's eyes widened.
Eina pushed up her glasses again, now very aware she was speaking to someone who took training extremely seriously.
"…Understood," she said quietly before smiling.
"Then I'll make sure to include acceleration patterns and striking habits in our future reviews."
Kaelis nodded once.
Eina then resumed in a lighter tone.
"Bell, after every dive, you must check in at the Guild. It lets us track your progress and ensure you're not taking reckless jumps in difficulty. If you skip reports, we can't help you."
"I'll come every day!" Bell promised.
Eina smiled softly. "Good."
"Last major point for today," Eina said as she flipped to a last page.
"Teamwork."
Eina explained, "Even if you prefer to fight alone, you still need to learn how to move around other adventurers. Working with a party or at least having allies nearby greatly increases your chances of returning to the surface safely."
"Normally, that would mean relying on your familia members… but since you're currently the only one in yours, you'll need to be extra careful."
Bell nodded.
Eina tapped the desk lightly.
"With proper caution and consistency, you can grow safely. But you must take this seriously."
Bell straightened up.
"I will."
Eina gave Bell a small approving smile.
"Good. That ends it for today. I look forward to working with you."
The orientation officially reached its end.
…
"I have to admit, that half-elf was pretty nice…" Kaelis said as they stepped out of the Guild's and into the late afternoon streets.
"Right!?" Hestia puffed her chest proudly. "She's totally perfect for my child! What do you think about that Eina-what's-her-face, Bell?"
"Uh. I think she's… nice…?" Bell answered, still a little overwhelmed from all the paperwork, all the talking, and the elf who rejected him on sight.
Hestia nodded to herself.
They walked at an easy pace back toward the abandoned church.
"So," Kaelis spoke up, "any good restaurants around here actually good? If we're celebrating, we might as well go all out."
"Celebrating?"
"Of course," Kaelis replied plainly. "Hestia got her first familia member. And you," he nudged Bell lightly with his elbow, "got accepted into a familia. That deserves a meal, doesn't it?"
Bell flushed, rubbing the back of his neck. "I… guess so."
Hestia beamed radiantly, Kaelis and Bell nearly covered their eyes.
"Hmm…" She tapped her chin. "There is a good place. Their food is amazing! But… it's kinda pricey."
"What's it called?" Kaelis asked.
"The Hostess of Fertility. It's on the Western Main Street."
Kaelis didn't hesitate. "Then we'll go there."
Bell blinked again. "Just like that?"
"If the food's good and it's a celebration, why not?"
If a goddess says the food is good, then he should take her word for it.
Hestia's eyes sparkled. "Kaelis, you're officially my favorite human."
They reached the church after a few minutes.
Inside, Bell headed straight for a small chest where he kept his clothes, pulling out something simple—a clean shirt, decent pants, nothing fancy.
Kaelis also swapped out his royal gear for something lighter and more casual.
Meanwhile, Hestia just… stood there.
Bell frowned. "Um… Goddess? Aren't you going to change too?"
She stiffened. "Eh—well—I would, but, uh… I actually don't… have any other clothes…"
She scratched her cheek embarrassingly, trying to play it cool.
Kaelis sighed and stepped toward her.
"Here," he said, pulling a lightweight modern-style jacket from his inventory.
Dark fabric, clean lines—something from his world. He draped it over her shoulders.
"Wear this."
She glanced down at it, surprised. "What—really? For me?"
"It's a jacket, not a sacred relic. Just wear it," Kaelis said, moving on like it was nothing.
Hestia hugged it tighter anyway.
Bell looked at her feet. "…Goddess, are you planning to walk around barefoot? I haven't seen you wearing any the whole time."
"No, I—well—maybe—yes—listen, shoes cost money!"
Kaelis tossed her a simple pair of soft slippers.
"Wear those. They're basic, but I can't have you walking around the whole time looking broke.."
Hestia stared at them like she had been handed treasure. "Kaelis… you're… wow."
"Just put them on."
Within a few minutes, they were all set—Bell looking tidier than usual, Hestia bundled in Kaelis's jacket and new slippers, and Kaelis himself looking more relaxed than he had since arriving in Orario.
"Alright," Kaelis said, stepping outside. "Lead the way, Goddess."
Hestia grinned, pointing proudly down the road.
"To the Hostess of Fertility!"
Bell followed behind the two of them, grinning.
It felt like he was starting something good.
Chapter 59 end.
