Seth naturally didn't forget about his Ultra Fast Recovery ability during this upgrade process, which successfully evolved into its more advanced form called [Flash Healing] - This skill granted the ability to heal and regenerate from injuries with truly extraordinary speed that defied conventional biological limitations.
The user could regenerate damaged tissue so rapidly that any attacker would genuinely question whether their target had actually sustained any real injury at all, or if their attack had somehow failed to connect.
At level one, achieving complete regeneration and full recovery starting from nothing but a single drop of remaining blood required only a few minutes of time.
At level five, that same process of full restoration from a single drop of blood took merely one second to complete entirely, and the remarkable healing capabilities extended even to normally permanent injuries affecting the intangible soul and mind. This skill also provided a substantial boost to the user's overall lifespan as a secondary benefit.
Seth took a long, careful moment to properly adjust and acclimate to the profound changes that had occurred throughout every aspect of his body, focusing particularly close attention on his willpower, which had grown to genuinely frightening levels of strength that he could feel thrumming through his entire being.
The dramatic enhancement had effectively doubled his total combat power entirely on its own—and yet, much to his continued shock and mild annoyance, even this substantial and impressive increase still wasn't quite sufficient to break the existing record.
"Well, start the trial," Seth commanded firmly without any hesitation, wasting absolutely no time in his relentless pursuit of further willpower improvement and growth.
The skill immediately took effect in response to his verbal command, and Seth found himself abruptly waking up in an unfamiliar bed in what appeared to be a completely different location.
He frowned deeply in confusion and displeasure, taking a moment to register that he appeared to be in full conscious control of this unfamiliar body he now inhabited.
His frown intensified considerably, and his disgust grew when he suddenly realized that his eyesight had been severely limited and reduced to merely that of an ordinary, baseline human with no enhancements whatsoever.
The sensation disgusted him thoroughly on a visceral level—he would genuinely rather die outright than be forced to continue experiencing such absolutely trash-tier vision quality for any extended period of time.
"Good, you're awake. Hurry up, we're going to be late for your parents' birthday," Seth's ex-girlfriend, now appearing as a middle-aged woman, said while carefully putting on her earrings. Although she was ostensibly speaking directly to Seth, her primary attention remained focused on adjusting her jewelry properly.
Seth, genuinely confused by the unfamiliar surroundings and situation, decided to go along with whatever was happening and began getting ready for the day ahead… although it disgusted him… a human, as his wife?
It quickly became abundantly clear that this illusion had constructed itself around a world he had always secretly dreamed of experiencing. It appeared that his ex-girlfriend had never emotionally shattered him in this reality, and instead, they had actually gotten married and built a life together.
On top of that seemingly impossible improvement, his parents actually seemed to genuinely care about him and his well-being. He would be outright lying to himself if he tried to claim that this wasn't the life he had always wanted deep down in the most hidden parts of his heart.
Memories began entering his mind bit by bit, gradually filling in the gaps of this fictional existence. Memories flooded in, showing how his parents had been consistently wonderful and supportive toward him throughout his entire life, or vivid recollections of how his elder brother had somehow become the family disappointment instead of Seth bearing that burden, or detailed memories of how he had become a genuinely successful man who had accomplished everything he'd set out to achieve.
Of course, even in this idealized version of reality, it wasn't all sunshine and rainbows without any conflict or struggle. There were plenty of fights and difficulties thrown into the mix as well, such as how he and his ex-girlfriend—now his wife in this timeline—had gotten into numerous heated arguments over the years, broken up dramatically on multiple occasions, only to inevitably come back to each other given enough time and distance.
There were other significant lows woven throughout the narrative as well, like the constant pressure and stress of trying to impress his parents and avoid disappointing them, and so much more emotional complexity. It all felt so incredibly real and authentic, and best of all, he had something he'd never experienced before...
"Dad, he will not give me my shirt!" a teenage girl cried out in frustration while bursting into his room uninvited, with another teenage boy standing directly behind her in the doorway.
"Because you hid my shoes!" he immediately cried out in his own defense, his voice rising to match her volume.
"I only did that because you would not follow through on your bet like you promised. I won fair and square, which means you have to run around your school completely naked!" she yelled back angrily, her face flushed with indignation. The absurd demand left Seth momentarily speechless.
"I'm pretty sure that's illegal on multiple levels, so let's change the bet into something more reasonable and legal," Seth responded on pure instinct, the words coming out automatically. He only caught himself and realized what he'd just said a second later.
"...Fine," the girl relented after a moment's consideration, though a cold, calculating smile spread across her face. "Then you have to ask out that one girl at your school, you know the one—the girl with the ponytail who sits near the back."
Her cruel modification made the teenage boy, who had been sighing softly in relief just a moment before, go visibly pale with dread. He turned desperately toward Seth, silently pleading for help and intervention, only to see Seth simply shrugging with apparent indifference to his plight. This caused the boy to turn with his last hope toward their mother instead.
"Don't make bets you're unwilling to follow through with when you lose," their mother said calmly without bothering to turn around to face either of them directly. "And I know for a fact you cheated to win in the first place, so you're just being needlessly cruel at this point."
"You cheated?" the boy cried out in genuine shock and betrayal, his expression transforming completely.
"Mooooom," the girl immediately cried back, feeling utterly betrayed by the revelation of her secret.
"Get dressed quickly, we have to—" Her words froze mid-sentence and hung suspended in the air as the entire world around them suddenly cracked like a fragile mirror struck by an invisible hammer. Everyone present simultaneously turned to look directly at Seth, who stood gazing contemplatively outside the window with an unreadable expression.
"Yeah, this life looks cute and all, I'll give you that much," Seth said with a slowly growing grin spreading across his face. "But the real world is honestly more fun and interesting. You'll have to do better than this if you want to trap me."
His words caused the entire illusion to violently shatter like breaking glass as he found himself abruptly back in reality. His mind exploded outward with such tremendous might and force that the entire world around him could physically feel his willpower, which leaked out uncontrolled in massive waves of tangible pressure.
"I rejected my perfect dream world in favor of a life that could potentially end terribly wrong for me in countless ways," Seth said with a genuine grin, his voice carrying a note of satisfaction. "It's all good, though. I'm no Obito. I'm built different."
He pulled out the SS-tier skill that could grant him extra subconsciousness, examining it with interest. What would happen to his combat power, he wondered, considering that each individual subconsciousness would possess all the same capabilities as the original, with the only real limitation being that only the original consciousness retained the ability to actually control the body and such?
[A/N: With this, MC did everything the universe wanted him to do in this universe... well, there are more, but that would be done off-screen. Next time we meet mC, he will be returning home]
