Chapter 106 - Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

"Are you sure this is the right direction?"

Wanda held the compass in both hands and looked up at Li Qingyuan.

"As long as you keep Pietro in your mind, you won't go wrong!"

After the last "Night Legend" verification, they knew that the compass worked in any dimension. If it had existed in the past, it would have definitely been considered a divine artifact.

But in today's society, its effectiveness wasn't as remarkable.

If Pietro had had his phone on him, there'd be no need for such a primitive method to find him.

"Come on, hurry and help me find that silly brother!" Wanda said, slightly devout, as she made her wish to the compass.

Seeing Li Qingyuan pull out this strange device didn't surprise Wanda at all. She already knew that Qingyuan wasn't ordinary, so any weird phenomenon was acceptable.

To be honest, at first, Li Qingyuan did consider teaching Wanda some dark magic. In any version of events, Wanda's magical talent was unmatched.

The Scarlet Witch was no joke—when angry, she could even twist someone's head off!

But Li Qingyuan was still just a novice sorcerer, with no right to teach her.

Besides, dark magic had a very low ceiling. Teaching Wanda improperly could ruin her potential.

It was better to wait until he leveled up to a Grand Mage before considering training Wanda.

The compass spun quickly several times, then pointed firmly in one direction.

"Strange… why isn't Pietro heading home?" Li Qingyuan murmured, scratching Wanda's head as he looked in the opposite direction of their residence.

"Is silly brother in danger?" Wanda asked, slightly worried.

"No, that guy's not the type to get hurt easily!" Li Qingyuan said. Pietro might act obedient in front of him, but in reality, he was far from an easy target.

After all, he grew up in the war-torn regions of Eastern Europe, where trickery and deception had become almost second nature. Unless faced with elite gangsters, ordinary thugs might even end up giving him experience.

And there had just been a violent incident nearby; no gang would dare act at such a time.

So, overall, Pietro should be safe.

The only mystery was why he still hadn't gone home.

"Let's go check it out!"

Holding Wanda's small hand, Li Qingyuan led her in the direction the compass indicated.

"You have to change the conditions, how many times do I have to tell you?"

In a neatly decorated bedroom, April O'Neil spoke to the young boy sitting opposite her.

As a journalism graduate who had only graduated less than six months ago, April desperately needed a big story to prove her ability.

But big stories weren't easy to dig up. As a rookie reporter, her daily work mostly involved interviewing street performers or attending fitness competitions in revealing outfits.

Even with all her sacrifices, April's media career was stagnant. Most of the material she painstakingly collected failed to pass initial review.

No choice—this was New York!

Beautiful women were everywhere. News changed every three seconds. Anyone who thought being pretty meant they could get whatever they wanted was mistaken.

High-end nightclubs and bars were filled with women who weren't just beautiful and tall—they possessed multiple skills, plus a kind and broad-minded demeanor. Their quality and quantity far surpassed anyone's imagination.

April had once wanted to cover Tony Stark's gossip news. For such a top-tier billionaire, even a minor scoop would sell like crazy.

Unfortunately, even prepared to risk her body for a story, she couldn't get past the first layer of Stark security.

On that day, Pepper Potts attended a press conference. She immediately disliked April and ordered security to throw her out.

Of course, April had no idea why.

Her desire for a big story only grew stronger. That night, when a kidnapping-bombing incident occurred at the subway station, while others panicked, April lay on the ground and secretly activated her phone camera, ready to record the event.

Though murders happened in New York daily, first-hand video footage was rare. If she captured real footage of the murder, it could become the headline news for tomorrow.

But before the kidnappers could act, the subway lights suddenly went out. A mysterious street hero appeared, brutally defeated the kidnappers, leaving them unconscious and unknown whether alive or dead.

When the lights came back on, everyone ran out of the subway station. April, however, headed for the emergency stairs at the back of the station.

Just before the lights went out, she had seen a shadow rushing up.

In pursuing news, New York reporters truly weren't afraid of death.

April chased Pietro to the roof of the Broadway theater and discovered an unbelievable sight.

Four giant turtles were gathered on the rooftop!

Each was nearly two meters tall and weighed at least 500 pounds—a colossal presence for petite April.

Even more astonishing, there had been a child following her all along, and she hadn't noticed!

When the lights came back on, many saw shadows but, remembering "less trouble is better," no one dared interfere.

The more you involve yourself, the faster you die!

Pietro didn't know why he instinctively followed her to the rooftop—maybe he wanted to see the mysterious superhero, or perhaps because she moved so dazzlingly when climbing the stairs.

April and Pietro were intimidated by the four giant turtles. Before leaving, the turtles even deleted all videos and photos from April's phone.

For April, desperate for a major story, this was unbearable. She was about to become the center of New York's attention, and yet all evidence was gone.

Without evidence, no one would believe her. Four giant English-speaking turtles, agile enough to leap between skyscrapers?

If she dared claim this, everyone would think she was crazy.

Fortunately, she wasn't the only witness!
