Chapter 172 - Chapter 172: Fox, Fox—Where Are You?

"There's a guy named Otsutsuki Urashiki who traveled through time and space to steal the Nine-Tails' chakra from you. We came here to stop that from happening."

Young Sasuke finally explained why the two of them had appeared.

He gave a wry smile.

Judging by the strength Naruto was showing now, even if they hadn't come, Urashiki would've been beaten flat anyway.

In hindsight, the two of them had worried for nothing.

"Otsutsuki Urashiki?" Naruto clicked his tongue. "That name sounds familiar. Let's see… the Sage of Six Paths was Ōtsutsuki Hagoromo. He had a brother named Hamura. And there was that old woman, Ōtsutsuki Kaguya. The Ōtsutsuki clan is really something—one after another."

There wasn't the slightest hint of fear on Naruto's face.

If anything, he looked eager.

"You even know Ōtsutsuki Kaguya?" Young Sasuke blurted out. "What exactly happened in this ninja world? How much has it changed?"

Knowing the Sage of Six Paths was normal—his legends were everywhere.

But Kaguya?

She'd been sealed for thousands of years. Almost no one in the ninja world even knew her name.

"At first, I only wanted to stop the Ōtsutsuki plot," Sasuke continued. "I didn't want to change the past. That would affect our future. But now it looks like this world isn't our past at all—it's a parallel world. Since it's already changed this much, there's no point hiding what happened in our timeline anymore."

His eyelids twitched with excitement as he told Naruto everything—

Pain destroying Konoha, Nagato killing Jiraiya, Obito hiding behind a mask, Madara's resurrection, the Ten-Tails, Infinite Tsukuyomi, Kaguya's revival.

Naruto listened like someone hearing a wild story, interrupting from time to time.

"So Jiraiya's disciple destroyed Konoha and killed him? Wow. In your world, everyone likes killing their teachers?"

"Obito did all that… for Rin? Turned the whole world into a dream just for that?"

"Madara came back from the dead, became the Ten-Tails' jinchūriki?"

"And Black Zetsu—the sneaky white thing—was actually Kaguya's will? Backstabbed Madara? That's impressive patience."

Naruto sounded entertained, not alarmed.

Boruto, on the other hand, was stunned.

He'd never imagined that so many catastrophic events had happened in the previous ninja world—or that his tired, overworked dad had once been the savior of the entire world.

"Why do you sound so relaxed?" Sasuke asked, staring at Naruto. "Aren't you worried at all? Konoha gets destroyed, wars break out, the whole world goes to hell—and you're the Hokage."

"Worried?" Naruto blinked. "Why would I be?"

Sasuke was starting to get annoyed.

He felt like the only one panicking while the emperor himself didn't care.

"Just deal with them as they come," Naruto said casually. "Obito, Nagato, Madara, even Kaguya—if they stand in front of me, I'll slap them to death. What I care about isn't that."

"Then what do you care about?" Sasuke asked.

"The growth of Konoha. The development of the Land of Fire. People's food, clothes, housing, transportation. Entertainment for ninjas. Cultural development. The future direction of the ninja world."

Sasuke stared at him. "Isn't that the daimyo's job? Since when does a Hokage handle all that?"

"Daimyo?" Naruto snorted. "Outdated."

"The world runs on power. Power comes from force. It's ridiculous that ninjas—who can destroy nations—bow to nobles with no strength. That kind of twisted system can't last forever. It's time for daimyo to step off the stage of history."

Sasuke broke out in cold sweat.

This wasn't Naruto.

Naruto would never talk about overthrowing the daimyo.

Boruto, meanwhile, was dazzled.

"So cool… If Dad were like this, that'd be amazing."

Naruto was about to keep going when his expression suddenly changed.

"Huh. Speak of the devil."

He looked toward Konoha.

Sasuke's face turned serious too.

"Ōtsutsuki Urashiki has appeared."

What shocked Sasuke wasn't just the arrival—it was that Naruto sensed it before he did.

"Let's go back and see what he's up to," Naruto said.

"You're not worried about Konoha?" Sasuke asked.

"Why would I be? There are people there. One Urashiki isn't enough to threaten Konoha."

They returned through a space-time passage.

Above Konoha, a pale figure floated in the air.

Long light-blue hair tied high. No eyebrows. Two marks on his forehead. Gray horns like a headband. White robes. A fishing rod slung over his shoulder, a basket at his waist.

Ōtsutsuki Urashiki.

"Watch his rod!" a ninja shouted. "It steals chakra!"

"Are you okay?"

"He's not killing anyone—just draining chakra!"

More and more shinobi gathered, evacuating civilians while watching him with extreme caution.

In moments, dozens of Konoha ninja—Jōnin and elite Chūnin included—had been knocked down. Exhausted, but alive.

"Where did the fox go?" Urashiki muttered, confused. "Why can't I sense it?"

To the Ōtsutsuki, the Nine-Tails' chakra was like a blazing beacon. Impossible to miss.

Yet now—nothing.

"Fox? What fox?"

"The fox—the Nine-Tails jinchūriki."

"This guy's here for the Hokage!"

"Hokage? Isn't the fox just a kid?"

Urashiki heard everything.

His face darkened.

An ominous feeling crept into his heart.
