Chapter 64 - Chapter 64: A Grand Escape Towards the Sunset

Celestial Weave strolled along the track, panting. Her eyes were full of fatigue, as if she had just been through a great battle. The blood-red sunset dyed her figure crimson, as if she were soaked in blood.

Behind her, the other horse girls lay on the ground as if dead. The scene was like the aftermath of a final battle at the end of the century, where a lone warrior has defeated several strong enemies and is once again embarking on her journey. It would have been even more atmospheric if there weren't two trainers with dead-fish eyes watching from the side.

Chizuru compared the data in her training book, recalling the intensity of today's training in her mind. After confirming everyone's limits, she finally snapped the book shut. "Alright, that's it for today. You can all go to the cafeteria to eat."

Her words were like a legendary resurrection spell. The moment she finished speaking, several of the previously "dead" horse girls shot up. "Yay!"

Seeing this, Chizuru could only shake her head helplessly and turn to the still-walking Celestial Weave. "Yume—"

"Can you still hold on? Do you want Sato-sensei to give you a ride to the cafeteria?"

Hearing her, Celestial Weave turned her head and gave a weak smile. Before she could speak, her legs gave out and she collapsed onto the ground. This gave Chizuru a scare. She quickly called everyone over to help her up, while she herself ran over and took off her horseshoes.

On Ken Sato's tricycle, Celestial Weave felt like a piece of pork being dragged to the market. There were even several people gathered around, watching her.

"I should have just had you practice tactics today. I shouldn't have agreed to let you use the weights."

"This is my mistake." Chizuru said apologetically, holding onto the tricycle. She had been temporarily blinded by the strength she had shown, thinking that just putting on the horseshoes wouldn't be a big deal.

Celestial Weave looked at the guilty Chizuru and could only give an awkward laugh. How could she possibly tell her that she had just lost her balance and fallen because she hadn't properly controlled the gravity adjustment of the item after hearing that training was over?

"Did you sprain your ankle? If you feel any discomfort, tell me immediately. I'll take you to the infirmary right away," Ken Sato, who was pushing the tricycle, also turned his head and asked nervously.

"No, no, I'm fine. My legs just gave out for a moment and I fell by accident." Seeing the situation getting more serious, Celestial Weave quickly waved her hands to indicate that she was fine. But this only made the others feel even guiltier.

"After all, we don't have a professional team here. Even the training equipment and saline water were brought over by Sato-sensei last night and prepared with the principal."

"If you were at the central academy..." Chizuru said, her head bowed in dejection. But before she could finish, Celestial Weave cut her off.

"I wouldn't have a group of people pushing a tricycle for me at a place like that."

"Besides, aren't the big races almost monopolized by the prestigious families now? It seems those guys at the central academy aren't that strong. I think having a tricycle is better." With that, she patted the tricycle with a laugh, making a clattering sound.

"?!"

Before she could even exclaim in surprise, the tricycle suddenly tipped over. It turned out that one of the wheels had rolled off after she had patted it. It seemed that using it to pull all that training equipment had been too much. This old fellow, who had carried the food of Kasamatsu Tracen for years, had finally given out.

"Now we really don't even have a tricycle," she said, looking up at Minamino Sumire. Her expression was hidden by the shadow of her hair.

"It's fine! After I win a major prize, I'll get a better one for the school!" She patted her butt, stood up from the tricycle, and said to her.

Sumire seemed not to have expected this answer. She was stunned for a moment, then muttered, "Who was talking about that..."

"Before we chat, can we please get the tricycle back up?" a helpless voice came from the side.

Under the sunset, the teachers and students of Kasamatsu Tracen were pushing a tricycle with a missing wheel across the campus. Anyone who didn't know better would have thought it was some special training method.

"I do know of a training method that involves carrying tires. Now we have one ready-made," Ken Sato said, trying to make light of the situation as he pushed the tricycle.

"Those are truck tires, right? What can you train with a tricycle tire of that weight?" Chizuru glanced at him and said speechlessly.

"By the way, how old is this thing? How did it break with just one knock?"

"I've seen it since I enrolled. By the way, this should be because Yume has too much strength, right?"

"I don't want to be told that by someone who can lift me up and down and elbowed me like crazy in the confrontational training."

Behind the tricycle, the horse girls were chatting idly.

"By the way, who came in second and third in the debut race yesterday?"

"Second was Nishimoto Makikusa, and third was probably me? Is there any point in talking about this?" Sumire said, sighing as she pushed the tricycle with difficulty.

"Then didn't you also debut successfully? Top three, right?"

"What success? Never mind that the rules for the local debut races have changed recently, even before, only the first place was considered to have debuted."

Hearing this, Celestial Weave was surprised to find that the differences between the worlds were not limited to what she had seen. There were also subtle differences in places she hadn't noticed. She remembered that in her first scenario world, the top three in the debut race could debut and even go on the winner's stage together. So it wasn't like that here?

She suddenly thought of Tokai Teio. She had forgotten the debut rules of the real world. Could it be that the debut race in the real world was also different? For example, the debut race not counting towards win-loss records. Could it be that Teio's talk of an "undefeated Triple Crown" wasn't just childish boasting, but that there were some subtle rules she hadn't noticed?

But she couldn't verify this suspicion for the time being. She would have to ask after returning to the real world, she thought. The important thing now—was to get the tricycle back to the school building. There were some repair tools there. Maybe it could be fixed.

"Training, strength, debut race, whatever—"

"I just want to eat now—"

Kobayashi Kaze's wail echoed under the Kasamatsu Tracen sky, making everyone's body stiffen. The hunger that had been temporarily relieved by chatting was now impossible to ignore.

After a moment of silence, Chizuru said in a cold voice, "The code name is—"

"A grand escape towards the sunset!"

"The target is—"

"The school building and the cafeteria!"

"For tonight's dinner—"

"My minions, charge!"

"Aye!!"

With a single command, everyone erupted with their maximum strength. For the sake of dinner, everyone pushed the tricycle with all their might, running wildly across the campus. The afterglow of the sunset ignited the sky. Under the orange-red sky, their shadows were stretched long, gradually merging together as they ran. Until someone realized that this was something only a bunch of idiots would do. If they were that hungry, they could have just gone to the cafeteria first and then come back to push the tricycle. And then suddenly burst out laughing.

The laughter was as if it were contagious. Eventually, everyone realized that this was actually a very silly thing to do. The commands Chizuru had given earlier were not heroic at all, but rather reeked of silliness. But they still didn't give up on pushing the tricycle, just laughing at each other for being idiots as they strolled across the campus.

At this moment, under the same sunset, Principal Haihara was standing in front of the cafeteria with a large spoon, looking at the empty space before him with a puzzled expression. "Where did everyone go?"

"Did they get tired of my cooking?!" he said, stroking his round chin nervously.
