Tina was jolted back to reality when someone interrupted her acupuncture. She was sure every needle she'd placed was right.
Turning to her sister Anna, she bit her lip and said, "Anna, even if you're upset with me, you can't interrupt me while I'm doing acupuncture. If I mess up, are you going to take responsibility?"
Helen stepped forward and pulled Anna back with a stern look. "Anna, what are you trying to do? Don't you realize interrupting Tina could make her mess up the next needle?"
Interruptions during acupuncture were the worst. The practitioner had to be completely focused so each needle went in smoothly.
One sudden break in concentration could cause a dangerous mistake.
Mrs. Luke's face flushed with anger as she approached Anna. "What are you trying to do?"
Anna's dark eyes stayed steady as she spoke slowly, "I said, if she puts in two more needles like that, Elder Luke will die on the spot."
