In the quiet hospital room, the faint ticking of the clock echoed endlessly, almost irritating. Anna felt as if her eyelids weighed a thousand pounds.
Somewhere close, a voice was calling her name over and over again.
"Anna… Anna…"
The voice was anxious, trembling slightly.
Finally, with great effort, Anna's lashes fluttered open. The bright white ceiling came into view, followed by Tiffany's worried face hovering above her.
Seeing Anna awake, Tiffany let out a long sigh of relief. She grasped Anna's hand tightly, her voice quivering with emotion.
"Anna, you scared me to death! When I got there, you were covered in blood. I thought… I thought you were going to die."
Anna blinked slowly, her head still foggy. Her body ached, but thankfully, her injuries weren't serious.
It was the violent shaking of the car, mixed with the lingering effects of whatever drug was in her system, that had made her lose consciousness.
