Ning Wei's mind went blank for a few seconds. She reread Ling Shuang's text a few times before deciding to call her best friend.
The phone rang for a few seconds before Ling Shuang finally picked up the phone call.
"Ling—"
"Wei Wei," Ling Shuang whispered, cutting into Ning Wei's words. "I'm in the middle of something. Can I get back to you later?"
Ning Wei paused for a few seconds. She inhaled a deep breath to calm down. "Alright. I'll talk to you later."
The phone call ended abruptly.
Ning Wei clenched her phone tightly. She was anxious to find out what the private investigator had told Ling Shuang. But right now, she could only wait patiently. Ning Wei leaned on the wall to gather her thoughts.
She snapped out of her thoughts and recalled that she was still in Bluebell.
Ning Wei pushed the door behind her and began to change her clothes. Her mind was still on Ling Shuang's message. Because of that, Ning Wei did not notice that the door was not properly closed.
