Chapter 3 - Chapter 3 β€” The Morning That Lied

Motivation is a very dramatic friend.Shows up unannounced at 2am.Gone by 9am.Doesn't text back.

πŸŒ‘ PANEL 1 β€” 2am. Still Awake.

The System notification faded.

The ceiling fan kept spinning.

And Diya's brain β€” that loyal, exhausting, absolutely unhinged brain of hers β€” did what it always does.

It started questioning.

Is this real? Can this actually work?Solo Leveling is an anime. This is Varudha. These are not the same thing. What if I follow the quests and nothing changes? What if I'm just too far gone? What ifβ€”

3am.

What if the System is just my own desperation wearing a costume?

4am.

What if I'm the only person in the world who can't figure out something this basic?

4:47am.

...what if I checked chess ratings real quick.

πŸŒ‘ PANEL 2 β€” 5am. The Betrayal.

She lost three games in a row.

Obviously.

Finally, somewhere around 5am, her body gave up on her brain and pulled the plug.

Sleep. Sudden and complete.

πŸŒ‘ PANEL 3 β€” The Morning That Felt Different

And then β€”

She woke up.

Not the usual waking up. Not the slow dread of another day assembling itself piece by piece.

Something felt β€”

different.

Like the air had shifted slightly. Like the light coming through the window was the same light but hitting her differently.

She sat up.

⚠ SYSTEM NOTIFICATION ⚠Good morning, Player.Daily quests available.Completing morning routine unlocks +5 clarity.

She looked at it for a long second.

Then β€” almost surprising herself β€” she got up.

πŸŒ‘ PANEL 4 β€” The Session

Quest: Morning ActivationDuration: 20 minutes. Reward: feeling like a person.

She rolled out the old yoga mat. The one that had been living under the bed for four months collecting dust and broken promises.

5 minutes β€” stretching Arms up. Spine creaking like an old door. Body saying excuse me what is this. She said back β€” I know. Me too.

5 minutes β€” basic yoga Child's pose. Cat-cow. Downward dog that was more like a confused triangle. Not graceful. Not Instagram-worthy. Real.

10 minutes β€” light movement Jumping jacks. A few squats. That one arm exercise she half-remembered from a YouTube video she watched at 3am six weeks ago.

She was breathing hard by the end.

Sweat on her forehead.

Slightly dizzy.

And for approximately four and a half minutes β€”

quiet.

The thoughts were still there. But softer. Like someone had turned the volume down just a little.

πŸŒ‘ PANEL 5 β€” The Crash

Then she sat down.

And the tiredness arrived like it had been waiting politely outside the door this whole time.

Okay, it said. My turn now.

The clarity evaporated.

The quest completion glow faded.

And Diya looked around the room and thought β€”

now what.

πŸŒ‘ PANEL 6 β€” The Spiral Menu

Without a next task, her brain opened its usual menu of distractions:

SELECT YOUR ESCAPE:

β–· Overthink something a friend said last week β–· Analyse mother's mood from breakfast β–· Open chess app and lose repeatedly β–· Scroll reels for 45 minutes, feel worse β–· Think about applying for jobs β†’ feel inadequate β†’ close tab β–· Eat something β–· Question existence generally β–· Fill the water cooler β–· Offer to get groceries just to leave the house β–· Buy snacks during grocery run β–· Eat snacks β–· Feel guilty about snacks β–· Eat more snacks

She selected several options simultaneously.

As one does.

πŸŒ‘ PANEL 7 β€” The Resistance

The worst part?

When someone β€” mother, father, anyone β€” said Diya, apply for this job β€”

Something in her chest locked.

Not laziness exactly. More like β€” the moment the suggestion came from outside, it stopped being hers. And if it wasn't hers, she didn't want it. And if she didn't want it, her brain immediately found seventeen reasons why it wouldn't work anyway.

I'm not qualified.They won't call back.What's the point.I'll do it tomorrow.

Tomorrow. Always tomorrow.

She knew she was doing it. That was the thing. She could see herself doing it, like watching a film she'd already seen, knowing exactly what happens next, unable to change it.

The System notification blinked quietly.

Reminder: Resistance is not the enemy. It is just fear with better excuses.

She closed her eyes.

Okay, she thought. Fine.

One thing. Just one.

The fan turned.

The afternoon stretched out ahead of her like an empty road β€”

Same road from the dream.

And somewhere, very faintly, she remembered what the stranger said.

Remember.
