Chapter 32 end of list

Ragnar started chuckling as he read through the list.

"I will take the grenade launcher and a crazy amount of grenades, enough to fill like 2 giant belts that I can carry over my shoulder. Like in some movies hahaha." Ragnar was laughing the hardest about his idea as Britta rolled her eyes.

"You sound like a little kid finding a new toy."

"That couldn't be any closer to the truth. Any guy likes explosions, and the further they get the better. I don't need more than that." He said as he put the paper back on the table, Leslie wrote it down with permission from Britta.

"Well I'm done so I'll take some rest." Ragnar said as he stood up and jumped in his bed not being bothered with looking at the rest.

After 15 minutes everyone had chosen something to add to their inventory. The first thing was more ammo, but also Leslie chose a Large backpack, which Ragnar would most likely carry. Leslie also chose a knife, but didn't take anything else. Britta took an extra shotgun and a couple grenades, joining Ragnar on explosions. Jan took a precision sniper rifle with scope and some camouflage. Fiora didn't need much and was fine with more ammo. Rohan was more similar to Fiora, he didn't need much more than he had.

'I'll take some ammo and 2 knives… that should do the trick, the rest will be more bothersome than useful.'

The group finished filling in the sheet as Britta went down with Fiora to discuss with Amanda. The rest laid down and took a rest, Rohan practiced his skill until his mana was almost empty.

Another topic that they had discussed during the team discussion was how to get past level 25. Fiora had already done that, but Britta and Ragnar had been stuck for a while at maximum experience. The only problem was to form a mana core under certain conditions. For Fiora, she managed to form a mana core of obtaining her skill while she was level 25. This gave her a large amount of mana and helped her form the core. She said it was rather painful and took quite some time.

Britta and Ragnar do have another way of forming a mana core by killing more enemies. When you reach level 25, the system adds a kill counter and every enemy slain adds a certain amount of mana to the progress. Britta is three quarters of the way there and Ragnar is almost half-way.

How do they know it will make a mana core when it reaches 100%?

They had heard from Follin, who had heard it from the other shelters. They already have multiple people with mana cores, which makes out shelter the weakest.

But we have quite some people getting very close and might break through within the next couple of days.

Rohan spent some time in the evening going through his routine, practicing his skill and checking his gear. He had one more free day to rest and get ready.

He spent the next day going through the "plan" with the rest of the team. Looked for Oswald to get some last minute training in, except he never found Oswald in the first place so he repeated his usual swings. And Rohan spent most of the day practicing with his skill and trying to stimulate the movement of his mana.

Rohan couldn't make much progress, as if limited by a barrier.

'Sure, I don't have enough mana to keep my skill active for a while, but I should be able to move my mana more freely… I can't even activate Fire infusion in any other place than my hands.'

Practicing with items in his hand, the mana consumption was multiplied. And most often the item in his hand broke after a second. Only his swordshort could withstand it, but it started to show signs of damage all over.

'There should be a blacksmith in the village I'll go ask Leslie'

Rohan asked Leslie and got an extended explanation on the history of the castle, but in short the blacksmith or just weaponsmith was located further in the castle. Hopefully there was still something left for him to take.

The blacksmith was transformed into a replicate museum, still having weapons and tools but no longer selling anything. Unless the buyer had more than enough money or was of higher standing.

Rohan quickly arrived at the place, it was made of similar grey stone as the castle and the rest of the buildings. The building was made up of large bricks of stone and had 3 stories, with the highest being the attic. The windows were all protected by iron bars and the door looked to be made out of pure iron. Heavy enough to squish anyone if it fell out of it's frame.

How did Rohan know it was the right place? The weapon banners, the anvil sign on the door and the spear lined against the top of the building.

'This should be the place, but I guess knocking won't be loud enough.' Rohan looked around and found a large cord on the side of the door. Pulling it he heard a bell sound from the inside and heavy footsteps approaching the door. Even though the door was sound proof and probably everything proof, the windows were made from thin glass, allowing everyone to see and hear what happened inside.

The small latch of the door opened up as a deep voice spoke. "State your name, shelter and what you need from the smithery…"

"I'm Rohan, part of Follin's and Brady's shelter and need my sword sharpened or a new sword."

"ugh, we don't do fixing, only supplying new weapons. Come on in Rohan, you may call me Mr. Smith." The door opened just enough to let Rohan in as Mr. Smith closed it quickly after he entered.

Mr. Smith was a person close to retirement who liked to keep his hands busy. Wearing dirty clothes and hands full of callouses and grime he gave of a different feeling from most people. Mr. Smith was almost 6 foot tall and had a bit too many beers and cigarettes. His greasy hair gave Rohan the feeling that he hadn't showered once since the system appeared.

"Come on through the back, the front here is all empty and taken away, only the somewhat usable or specific items are remaining. But I am sure there is something for you." Mr. Smith began talking enthusiastically. He made his way to the back as Rohan followed. The front of the smithery was stalled full with wooden displays stacked on top of each other or taken apart.

"The last days have been very busy and many people came looking for last minute weapons as you know, swords don't really run out of ammo. But I have managed to make everyone a satisfied customer, although everything is free, bwabwabawbwa" Mr. Smith laughed at his own joke as he waved Rohan over. Rohan could see his few yellow remaining teeth, but that didn't bother Mr. Smith, who had now reached the last room with a few wooden cabinets remaining filled with interesting weapons, some more for show and unusable and others too specific to handle.
