The sky above the final citadel had never been so silent. Even the restless wind that had carried banners and whispers through the realms felt muted, as if the world itself had held its breath. Mountains fractured in the distance, rivers flowed backwards in impossible arcs, and the very stars seemed to tremble. From the throne room of the collapsing world the Creator watched, an impossible silhouette of code and conscience, and across the shattered plaza Mike stepped forward with the weight of every choice on his shoulders.
He did not come as a conqueror. He came with ash on his boots and shame knotted in his chest. He had been many things in Godslayer VR: player, survivor, king, tyrant and savior by turns. Tonight all those titles gathered into a single decision. Around him his shadows waited, obedient and patient, a black tide pooling like spilled ink. They were stronger now because of him, and in that strength lay the danger he had always feared.
