"Gross, you are a complete waste of space."
The Dread Lord looked at the Doom Guard Lord before him, his face filled with disdain.
Gross hung his head, his face terribly grim. He was not only angry that the Dread Lord had come to replace him but also furious with himself for failing to defeat the enemy entrenched in the ruins of the Temple of the Moon for half a month.
Not only that, these Elves had even built a tall fortress on the ruins of the Temple of the Moon. Although he knew the Elves used magic, this speed still greatly surprised him.
The Dread Lord seized upon this point, constantly insulting him.
"Because of your incompetence, I now have to forcefully attack a sturdy fortress. How many warriors will the Legion lose because of this?"
Other demons looked at Gross with sympathy.
The Burning Legion's demons are divided into two types: those powerful enough to resurrect, who are immortal, and those weak cannon fodder, who are not worth resurrecting at all.
Therefore, no matter which type of demon died, the commander would not care. Fearless in death, this is the terrifying aspect of the Burning Legion.
Yet, the Dread Lord used this point to insult Gross; how could they not feel sympathy?
Gross finally couldn't bear it anymore. He raised his head and said, "Marmotius, don't you Nathrezim pride yourselves on being the smartest race in this world? A mere fortress makes you surrender your weapons?"
Marmotius looked at him amused, "Would I be afraid of a small fortress? Only a good-for-nothing like you can't deal with it."
"I'd like to see what method you have."
"You will see!"
Marmotius pushed Gross aside and issued orders to all demons, "Everyone, prepare for battle!"
He walked to the front line, manipulating Fel Energy with both hands, and began to cast a spell.
Dark clouds gathered in the sky, and green light shimmered faintly within them. Suddenly, a green light broke through the obstruction of the dark clouds, carrying a plume of thick smoke, and smashed towards the distant fortress.
Gross jumped up in anger, "You cheated! You actually used Hellfire!"
"You are the one who is foolish!" Marmotius sneered, "Do you know why I scolded you? It's because you made the warriors attack a fortress with their flesh and blood. For such a fortress, you could have completely applied to the master for Hellfire to siege the city."
The demons looked at Gross. This time, they no longer sympathized with the Doom Guard Lord but instead looked at him with concern.
Gross also fell silent and stopped arguing.
Hellfire are siege weapons commonly used by the Burning Legion. They are tall constructs, powered by Fel Energy, and controlled by Mages. When activated, Fel Energy flames ignite on their bodies. Any creature burned by these Fel Energy flames will have its life force absorbed, becoming fuel for the Hellfire.
"Watch out!" Carlos shouted loudly.
These giant monsters burning with green fire were clearly very difficult enemies to deal with.
The Alpha Squad soldiers also knew this. They tried to avoid the Fel Fire as much as possible, then launched their attack.
However, the Fel Fire completely enveloped the Hellfire. The warriors could not find a weakness and could only let the Hellfire attack the city wall.
"Boom!" "Boom!" "Boom--"
A few punches from the Hellfire deformed the city wall. A few more hits, and several gaps appeared in the city wall.
The Hellfire clawed at the gaps, trying to climb into the fortress. Just then, a huge fist suddenly smashed the Hellfire away. It was several large Earth Elements.
After the fortress was built, the Mages did not send the Earth Elements back to Deepholm but kept them to participate in the battle.
"Block those green monsters and don't let them get close to the city wall."
Metri directed the Earth Elements to deal with the Hellfire. The Earth Elements rushed out of the fortress and launched an attack on these life-extinguishing demons. Since being sealed by the Titan Guardians, the Earth Elements have basically shifted to the side of order.
Although they still harbored the desire to return to the real world, that was merely their obsession with the real world. Their belief was to protect Azeroth, so they naturally detested the demons who sought to destroy Azeroth.
Marmotius raised an eyebrow, "I didn't expect these Elves to still be hiding their strength."
He looked at Gross mockingly, "It seems your defeat was not unjust; these Elves are much stronger than the Sin'dorei Elves."
Gross said unhappily, "Instead of mocking me, you should quickly think about how to deal with the enemy."
Marmotius sneered, "Dealing with them doesn't require much thought from me."
Saying that, he continued to summon Hellfire. Soon, hundreds of Hellfire descended from the sky, bombarding the fortress from all directions. Most of the Hellfire fell directly into the fortress, directly slaughtering the Elves.
"Do you see? In the face of absolute military strength, no amount of schemes and tricks is worth mentioning."
Gross rolled his eyes: How dare you say that? It's you Nathrezim who love to play schemes and tricks the most.
Marmotius paid no attention to Gross's reaction. He watched the slaughter in the distance with enjoyment and issued his final command: "All attack, kill all those Elves!"
The demons howled and charged. The Elves' fortress had already fallen into a sea of Hellfire and was beyond salvation. If they went up too late, they might not even get the last bit of credit.
Soon, the demons rushed to the outside of the fortress. The Hellfire had already killed the Earth Elements one by one, pushed down a section of the city wall, and launched an attack into the city.
The Hellfire inside the city constantly absorbed the life force of the surrounding Elves with Fel Fire, and with one punch, an Elf would inevitably fall to the ground.
Just as Marmotius thought victory was assured, the Mage Tower of the fortress glowed with Arcane light.
"Demons! No one can take this fortress from my hands!"
Metri shouted loudly, slamming his raised staff onto the ground. A powerful Arcane shockwave swept outwards from the Mage Tower, like a giant blade, directly slicing the Hellfire in half at the waist.
The Hellfire stiffened for a moment, then, under the force of the shockwave, their bodies scattered everywhere. The shockwave swept to the city wall, and the upper half of the city wall was also pushed outside the city.
The recent shockwave spared not even the city wall. The Hellfire outside the city naturally could not escape their fate of being cut down.
His mana completely depleted, Metri barely held onto his staff to keep from falling.
aluneth's whispers echoed in his ears: "We need to recharge, quickly! Kill these Elf Mages and seize the magic within them."
"Shut up!"
Metri coldly snarled, then forcibly drew mana from the staff, and only then did he stand up.
aluneth, losing energy, cried out: "No! Don't absorb my magic."
