Chapter 41 - Attack on the Demon Worshipers Cult

Previously on Hakuna, the Prince was haunted by the loss of his love, Nolitha, and the subsequent activation of his devastating Divine Power. At school, rumours circulated that he was a magnet for bad luck, perhaps even a demon himself, a terrifying suspicion fuelled by the BBC's disappearance. To fix these allegations and restore order, the principal, Mr. Lupuwana, tasked Hakuna with swiftly eliminating a dangerous cult that worships demons and plans to attack the matriculants. How will this solo mission pan out, and what new threats lurk in the shadows? Let's see...

Fade in...

Infiltration

Hakuna, still wearing his school uniform, was seen walking with slow, deliberate steps toward an isolated, abandoned industrial building located on the outskirts of the town near Milner. The structure was large, foreboding, and utterly silent.

"This building... it looks convincingly abandoned from the exterior, but all its necessary internal facilities—power, ventilation, water—are clearly being accounted for and maintained by an unknown, likely offshore, shell company. The infrastructure is too clean for a true ruin," he observed, his mind instantly analyzing the tactical reality.

Psycha chimed in, her voice low. "Perfect cover from those who aren't looking close enough, vessel. A professional operation. This wasn't put together by some local teenagers."

"Alright, let's get this over with. The faster I destroy the demon, the faster I can forget this ever happened," the prince declared, a weary determination in his voice.

He entered a racing stance, ready to break the sound barrier.

"Hakuna, wait! Don't just charge in with pure kinetic force!" Psycha muttered frantically.

"Too late for subtlety, Psycha. Speed is safety," Hakuna replied, already gone.

He ran through the heavy, locked industrial doors, destroying them immediately. The sheer kinetic force pulverized the metal and stone in a burst of dust and debris, announcing his arrival with a deafening crash.

"You were saying about waiting?" Hakuna queried cheekily, stepping over the shattered threshold.

Psycha's tone shifted from urgency to outright alarm. "We were given completely wrong information! This isn't just one captive demon; they have multiple demons guarding everything—the perimeter, the corridors, the lower levels! And they are controlled demons! Fully operational!"

"Hmm. More human beings controlling demons, and doing so with such coordination? What the hell is going on here? The Tshabadira Clan's influence shouldn't stretch this far," he questioned, his composure returning as the scale of the threat grew.

He ran into the main hall, a vast, echoing space filled with at least a dozen people wearing heavy, dark religious robes. They were chanting over a massive, grotesque black altar in the center of the room.

"You dare challenge the chosen Disciples of Lilith, child?! You will not interrupt the communion!" a cultist shouted, spinning around, his face obscured by a deep hood.

"Lilith? What's that supposed to mean? I've never heard of a demon of that rank," Hakuna asked, momentarily confused by the unfamiliar name.

"Hakuna, stop talking! I don't think this is a good idea. Retreat and regroup!" Psycha muttered, a note of deep, ancient fear in her voice.

"Huh? What are you talking about, Psycha? It's just some cultists and a low-level demon," he asked, confused by her sudden panic.

"I shall banish you into eternal anguish! You will be judged by the Lord of the Pit!" another cultist declared with fervent belief, casting a complex banishment spell directly at Hakuna.

The spell's energy hit the prince, washing over him. It did absolutely nothing. His Divine Energy simply shrugged it off.

Hakuna questioned the power dynamic, a cold realization forming. "Wait, so how were these weaklings able to capture and control a demon again? Their magic is pathetic. Unless..."

His energy instantly rose to a terrifying degree, the faint purple glow becoming a powerful aura.

His eyes flared to a burning, focused purple.

He then spoke with the same eery, echoing, multi-layered voice that had defined his rage at the palace. "CELESTIAL ANGUISH..."

An overwhelming, oppressive blanket of Divine Energy covered the entire hall. The cultists instantly dropped their weapons, their movements frozen. All the robed figures collapsed, unable to withstand the sheer weight of his power, weakened instantly to the point of near death.

"So, what exactly were you worried about again, Psycha? They can't even lift a finger," he asked cheekily, enjoying the display of his new, controlled power.

Psycha retorted instantly. "Shut up, vessel. You're lucky that banishment spell was weak. That name—Lilith—is ancient."

The first cultist muttered, spitting blood onto the stone floor. "How can a mere child possess this much power...? It's impossible..."

The Demon Assassin

At that moment, someone walked into the hall from a side door and was utterly unaffected by Hakuna's oppressive energy field. The figure was clearly not human.

"They shouldn't. All the most powerful, active Milnerian students should be inactive or gravely injured, out of commission, according to our intelligence. That is precisely why this plan was made and approved by the High Council. You are a massive failure of a loose end. Who are you, boy?" the figure questioned, their voice smooth and deadly.

"Wait, did I really lose my fame in a matter of a few weeks? Is the BBC already forgotten in the rush of events?" Hakuna asked, a strange, detached curiosity replacing his rage.

Psycha replied, deadpan. "I had actually thought you'd be pleased to be a nobody, vessel."

Hakuna continued, considering the idea out loud. "Yeah, I am happy that the attacks aren't about me for once, that the spotlight isn't a direct target, but I wanted to gradually, slowly go under the radar, you know, not just be instantly erased from memory."

"No, Hakuna. I don't know what you mean by 'gradually erased' or any of your self-pitying human nonsense," she said, devoid of any irony.

Hakuna then continued, speaking to the demon figure. "Agh, anyway, my name is Hakuna Ntlamele, and I'm gonna kill all of you and any other demon I find in this building!"

Psycha interjected quickly, correcting his political blunder. "Just the demons, vessel. Remember the principal's deal! No human collateral!"

"Right, right, just the demons. I mean, you're all definitely going to jail for a very long time, but, yeah, the demons are the only ones who die right now," he said, returning to the reality of the mission.

The figure, a high-ranking Humanoid demon named Maerceci queried, a cold amusement in his voice. "Is that so? You plan to kill me?"

He vanished.

Hakuna thought to himself, a surge of adrenaline hitting him. "What the—where is he? I didn't see him move!" He didn't have time to finish the thought— "Huaaagh!"

Maerceci reappeared instantly behind him and delivered a crushing punch straight into Hakuna's stomach, a blow that sent the prince flying across the hall to smash violently against a brick wall.

Hakuna grunted, sliding down the wall. "Grr, this must be exactly what déjà vu feels like. Same attack, different demon."

He flared his full Divine Energy, his composure returning with lethal focus.

He pointed his arm directly at Maerceci, the concentration of power visible as a distorting heat haze.

He spoke in that terrifying, echoing voice. "THIS TIME, I SEEM TO BE LUCID. CELESTIAL CHAOS."

Maerceci yelled in a panic, recognizing the fundamental, cosmic nature of the attack. "What is this... no... no... NOOOOOO!"

His body disintegrated instantly, reduced violently to the atomic level, almost as if his atoms were being made to become the atmosphere itself. Maerceci was completely erased from existence. This was the devastating, absolute power of the Talent Celesti; Celestial Chaos.

Hakuna's eyes went back to normal, the purple receding as the attack subsided.

"Alright, Psycha. The hall is cleared. Where to now? Which door leads to the main target?" he asked, his voice calm and businesslike.

Psycha muttered, still processing the sheer magnitude of the attack. "Uhh, that way, through the door on your left, vessel. The energy signature is strong there."

"Great. Let's finish the job," he said.

Psycha then thought to herself, a cold dread settling in her ancient heart. "There's no trace of his existence, none at all. The very concept of him has been deleted from reality. That wasn't just killing. That was terrifying."

Carnage

Hakuna ran towards the designated door.

As it opened, it revealed a long, wide corridor entirely overrun with over a dozen Humanoid Level 6 demons, large, powerfully built entities who immediately spotted him.

Hakuna took a deep, steadying breath. "Here goes nothing. Might as well clear the rest of the basement."

His eyes began to glow with a focused brown light.

As he entered the corridor, the carnage began. One by one, Hakuna decimated all the demons in the hall. His fists, instantly covered in focused Inferno flames, became deadly weapons. He punched through one, two—no, four demons in a single, fluid motion with shocking ease. He then grabbed two nearby demons and simply squashed both into one another, destroying them immediately in a burst of dark gore.

With six more demons still standing in his way, Hakuna flared his energy and ran towards them with great speed. He executed a flawless Sonic Clap—a compressed shockwave of air—so powerful that it destroyed the six demons' heads along with their torsos.

As he walked toward the second door, it opened.

And in came an enormous, towering Ogre class Level 7 demon, its skin thick and its muscles bulging.

"Okay. A real challenge. That's more like it. HaaaaaAAA!" Hakuna roared, meeting the challenge with a savage grin.

He cocked his arm back for a thunderous uppercut as his entire body became shrouded in white-hot flame.

"Fist of Inferno!"

His punch landed with catastrophic force, shattering the Ogre demon instantly and destroying the heavy doors behind it as a bonus.

He walked into the main chamber—the true lair.

The Cultist Leader, the most zealous of the robed figures, stood before a final, large altar, protecting the last captive demon. "You will fail, boy! Your power is temporary, your will is weak!"

"Alright, that's absolutely it. I'm done with the theatrics," Hakuna said, his annoyance finally snapping.

He vanished.

He appeared instantly in front of the leader and slammed the cultist with a series of furious punches—not focused to kill, but to utterly disable—shaking the ground with the raw, brutal force. The cultist collapsed, on the verge of death.

"WHAT AN INTERESTING BOY, YOU ARE," the chilling, multi-layered voice of Lilith echoed through the chamber, seemingly coming from nowhere and everywhere.

Hakuna jolted backward, his concentration broken by the new threat. "What the hell was that? Who was that?"

Psycha replied, her voice filled with primal terror. "That, Hakuna, was exactly what I'm worried about! The Mother of Demons! That's the high-level threat I sensed!"

Hakuna looked around and finally located the source of the immense power: a grotesque, pulsating demon locked in an obsidian cage, glowing with a dark, terrifying energy. The last captive demon.

Psycha yelled in his mind. "That demon! Kill it! Quick! Before it's fully free!"

Hakuna, ignoring the surrounding chaos, instantly charged an energy blast with his full, overwhelming power.

His eyes burned purple, focused on the demonic prisoner. He roared, "HERE GOES, KIHIMURRA!"

A massive, world-shaking energy blast slammed into the demon, utterly destroying it and the cage it was in. The force was enough to collapse the entire abandoned building. But...

"What the hell is this now? The demon is gone, but the energy is condensing," Hakuna questioned, staring at the strange phenomenon.

A swirling cloud of vibrant red smoke surrounded Hakuna for a few seconds, pulsed, and then vanished completely, leaving no trace of the demon or the smoke.

Hakuna muttered, profoundly freaked out by the unstable nature of the enemy. "Okay, that was genuinely freaky. Psycha, you okay? What was that red smoke?"

"Hehe, yeah... I'm fine. Just an unexpected encounter. Let's get out of here before the police arrive," Psycha said, chuckling nervously, clearly hiding the truth of the encounter.

Hakuna vanished.

Restored Reputation

He returned to the school, still wearing his demon blood-drenched uniform, and relayed the events that took place—the cult's plan, the threat, the final elimination of the demon—to the principal. All the surviving cultists were swiftly arrested, and the children they had secretly captured were rescued by the police and local authorities.

Monday 08:15 – Morning Assembly

Hakuna was seen standing at the front of the school, beside the Principal, Mr. Lupuwana, with the rest of the BBC members standing fully recovered and united behind him.

Mr. Lupuwana spoke into the microphone, his voice resonating with manufactured sincerity. "Good morning, Milnerians! I'm sure you've been itching with curiosity as to what has taken place over the past few weeks, and yes, something massive and terrifying was amidst us."

Super asked Hakuna quietly. "Hakuna, you good? That was some story he just gave us."

Hakuna replied, forcing a neutral expression. "Yeah, I'm holding up. You guys okay? Fully healed?"

All the BBC members nodded in agreement, a silent bond of shared trauma passing between them.

Mr. Lupuwana continued, executing his political masterstroke. "There has been a heinous cult that worships demons planning to attack our matriculants at their time of study for their finals. But with quick thinking and immense courage, I mobilized the famed BBC squad to stop this insidious cult. A few weeks ago, all members were gravely injured in this excursion. In those dire, final moments, I couldn't mobilize the EXCO units, but as I was about to, this young man, Hakuna Ntlamele, pulled a miraculous, speedy recovery and finished the mission all on his own! This brave young man, this brave squadron, saved us all from terror and certain death! And to commemorate their superhuman efforts, the school made custom BBC rings for all squad members!"

As he theatrically gave the engraved rings to each member, the crowd erupted in cheers.

"The power of Persuasion," Psycha muttered, a dark undertone in her voice.

"Hmm? What are you talking about now?" Hakuna responded, barely listening.

Psycha continued, her attention fixed on Mr. Lupuwana. "While some human talents are impressive, there have always been some that are way too dangerous in mortal hands. Arkhagos's father, always has a plan, as the humans say I guess."

"What do you mean, Psycha? Explain yourself," Hakuna queried, sensing the genuine fear in her words.

Psycha continued, her voice cold with realization. "This talent, to subtly bend the will of each and every individual under your authority, to sway the masses to your will, no matter how insane or patently false the lie may be—that talent is known as Persuasion. It's terrifying what a man like the principal may achieve with a talent like that in mortal hands."

"Yeah, scary," the prince muttered, looking at the Principal's triumphant smile, the cheers of the students washing over him—his reputation restored, his heart still broken.

Fade out...
