Prologue

In the distant past , where beings called the awakened roamed.

Civilizations thrived.

The combination of the Somatikoi as well as Noetikoi , helped civilizations reach unimaginable heights.

Primarily, two kinds of awakened beings existed.

Those who have awakened their bodies , which were known as the Somatikoi.

And those that have awakened their minds, called Noetikoi.

These awakened lived in harmony.

Creating one kingdom that the whole world came to serve.

Until one day.

A man that came to fear his kind appeared.

That man was known as the founding emperor, Batsaikhan.

The ruler of all awakened.

Also known by his title "incarnation of the Soma God."

The awakened during this time worshipped two gods.

The Soma, and Noe god.

These entities were rumored to not exist yet, having came from the future, they declared their existence throughout each timeline of the multiverse.

That is how the current civilization of awakened came to know of them.

Peace and prosperity filled the world, which was the kingdom.

Although the emperor lacked family to support him through his journey of life filled with countless struggles , as well as battles fought. He came to make a family with the woman he dearly cherished.

Finally, the day he had dreamt of , the day he would form a family he could call his , arrived.

His wife , Agnes.

Was pregnant with his child.

Hearing this news, Batsaikhan was overjoyed.

And so was the world he so ruled.

But there were exclusions.

People who had thought themselves unfit of being ruled by him.

People who had thought of themselves as the only ones worthy to rule.

Such people committed heinous acts throughout the kingdom.

Even doing the unthinkable.

Rogue awakened had massacred Agnes, which had yet to give birth. During her morning walk throughout the garden, which she liked strolling through to help clear her mind. Filled with vegetation such as green grasslands, flowers of every kind, a bridge that went across waters as blue as the morning summer sky.

Such scenery was painted with hot-red liquid. And the body of an innocent woman bearing a beautiful baby boy who was never destined to see the beauty of the world.

To top it all off. They had used her blood to write a message at the very same place they had murdered her.

"Pseudo-god. This is not the end."

A direct attack on the emperor himself.

Hearing the news, the emperor was enraged beyond belief. Tearing apart everything and everyone that stood his way. He could not bear the pain of losing his woman, his unborn child. It's as if his entire being was urged to kill every single being alive until the real perpetrators were discovered.

Batsaikhan held great might, capable of ruining entire nations by himself. He was worthy of being feared by everyone.

Standing at around 8ft in height , with muscles resembling coastal rocks, he towered over anything that came his way.

Everyone except his older step-brother Adam.

In contrast to his brother , he was a calm, lighthearted man standing at around 6ft in height.

He had an elegant figure with long dark hair , pale skin with bloodshot red lips.

A man loved by women , yet despised by warriors who inwardly criticized him based on his behavior which they deemed as "Not acceptable of an awakened"

Of-course , no man ever dared speak ill of him , fearing the emperor's wrath.

They kept their mouths shut.

Batsaikhan, loved his brother more than anything.

From his perspective , his brother was what the world needed most.

Not brainless warriors who only know how to fight.

But talented individuals who lacked the power to cause harm.

Maybe that way harm would cease to exist.

And maybe he would not have lost the thing important to him most.

One day, as both brothers were sitting in the castle belonging to him, bearing a menacing name inherited from the mountain it stood on. It was named The Shadowhorn Castle.

They took turns asking questions , which the other must answer truthfully—a practice where they swore on their warriors honor to exchange information—whether it be crucial or unimportant , did not matter.

Taking the shiny gold mug in hand, he took a sip.

Exhaling , he put the mug down and turned to look at his brother.

"Adam." He said, with a worried yet stern expression.

"Yes, brother?" Adam replied, his facial expression as cool as ever. Maintaining his composure with every action took and word uttered.

"Do you fear the unknown." Putting down the cup Adam was drinking from, he replied.

"I suppose everyone does." The emperor nodded his head in agreement.

"I see."

A conversation short, yet meaningful.

Adam didn't dare speak of the latest incident that took place. He knew of his brother's rage the most. Perhaps that is why he was so distant from the topic.

Giving a slight smile Adam reminded the emperor.

"I'll always be by your side. Brother."

This was the kind of person Adam was, thoughtful, caring—yet refraining from being invasive in matters he could not meddle in.

Adam didn't know it yet.

But what his brother was planning.

Was outside of everyone's expectations.

Batsaikhan's ambitions reached beyond this lifetime.

Beyond this era. And beyond his life.

He came to doubt the existence of his own people.

Even that of himself.

Was it truly right for them to wield these abilities?

Perhaps if awakened hadn't existed , his late wife would still be alive today. Alive to see him off whenever he went out. To welcome him back home whenever he was back. Now only guards at the castle doors in charge of regulating entry , remained.

Batsaikhan came to fear himself.

As thoughts of uncertainty of the future washed over him.

He came to a conclusion.

"I will eradicate this world , of my kind, leaving behind only remnants , in charge of maintaining the secret we ever existed."

He reached out to his closest, most trustworthy comrades.

Ordering them to do exactly as he wished.

His comrades, although shaky in their decisions. Understood why the emperor wished it so, the absolute order that had maintained the kingdom for long was beginning to crumble. They had no choice but to follow through with the request of their lord.

Knock knock knock.

"Come in." A warm voice resounded from inside.

Entering the room Adam was overjoyed to see that his brother has come to see him.

"Haha brother! It's not usual of you to come and see me. Come have a seat ! I was preparing tea for myself anyways"

Said Adam. His voice filled with happiness, with pride of the heights his brother had reached, and that such a man could be considered family.

"It's good to see you Adam…."

His voice filled with despair—unprepared to reveal the news to his older brother. Knowing he would not agree.

Yet still he came.

Knowing it was improbable that he could convince his brother.

He still wanted to try.

Try , and secure the slim chance that… he would not be forced to kill his own brother.

Sensing that something is off, Adam questioned him.

"Is everything alright brother? Come here and sit."

Adam helped the emperor sit down, delivering a cup of tea, the golden ones just as the emperor liked most.

And so the moment came.

The moment he feared the most.

Washing away all useless thoughts—reassuring himself that this is something that needs to be done.

Batsaikhan declared.

"I will create a new world. A world without beings like us roaming in it. A world free of our dominion."

These words resounded in Adam's head.

Being a Noetikoi came with great perks, such as heightened mental cognition.

Thinking of this as a rant of a broken man, Adam politely began to question.

"You're not thinking of doing what i think you are… are you, brother?"

His voice stammering.

"It has to be done."

Adam's chest suddenly felt heavy. As if his heart had dropped to his stomach.

Beads of sweat spread across his face. His eyes widening with each passing moment.

"You came to. Kill me, brother?"

Batsaikhan's gaze never left Adam, illuminating his absolute resolve on this matter.

Sending shivers down his spine.

"I would be a fool to do so Adam." Said the emperor. Lowering his gaze towards the ground, too shameful to dare look his brother in the eyes.

Adam's roar soared throughout the room, speaking words of anguish, he begged his brother to think things through.

"THINK BROTHER THINK.."

Batsaikhan would not dare talk back.

Continuing to argue would only sadden him further.

"Brother… i wish you leave this place and live a peaceful life. My warriors will not come for you. That is something i can promise you not just as a king. But as a family."

His brother's words—which came from a place of love and worry. Were interpreted as nothing more than mocking his humanity.

"Peaceful life?! You wish me a peaceful life !! Knowing i let you off with your plans to commit a global genocide?!? Brother. I understand your emotions, but acting upon them will bring you results you never wished to achieve!!!"

Adam continued venting out his anger.

His voice resounding throughout every corner of the shadowhorn castle.

Until he had no more words to speak.

Filled with anger and resentment, unable to accept reality as is—what kind of a person his brother really is.

He grabbed his coat, angrily walking towards the exit, brushing past his brother as if he was never there.

"You've shown me great disappointment 'brother' ."

Glaring at him as if a nobleman would gaze upon a slave.

Adam was enraged, unwilling to entertain the filth that he had once considered family.

Leaving only the sound of his footsteps echoing through the hallways of the castle that he had previously placed great dignity upon, be reduced to a place not worthy to bear the title of "home"

He stormed out of the castle, never to be seen again.

"I knew i could never hurt you brother… "

His voice a higher pitch than his usual, low and dark voice that declared his presence whenever he spoke.

"May you live a good life."

Said the emperor.

For the first time in his life, a tear ran down his face.

And so it begun.

The genocide that Adam tried his hardest to prevent.

Among the people who would eventually die, there were those who accepted their fate. And those that tried their hardest to survive.

Both would meet their demise.

In front of Batsaikhan's might , the only place he could not be able to find you, is if you were already in the afterlife.

The emperor and his closest allies spent days, months tracking every single awakened down and massacring them one by one. Until nobody remained.

Identifying the perpetrators was of no concern, everyone was dead.

With time passing, his dream of a new world was fulfilled.

All that remained was to cover up the existence of "awakened".

And one more crucial aspect.

To persevere his ideals even beyond his life-span.

And so The Nexus was born.

An organization with the sole purpose of eliminating any awakened individuals in the world , as well as preventing information regarding awakenenings of leaking out.

With that creation came about the process of mass producing population.

To force regular humans - beings who have not yet awakened, which were considered a rare occurrence in this world—mass produce offspring .

With the singular purpose of eradicating the humans who knew the existence of awakened.

And having their offsprings—a proper substitute, unaware of the truth, continue their legacy.

Each of the Nexus heads spread to different parts of the world, gaining influence, building nations full of these offspring.

Batsaikhan's vision was complete.

According to him, the world was finally at peace.

Millenia after…
