Pink Diamond was currently walking with heavy steps and glowing eyes, with diamond-like irises, as she walked while dragging a whimpering man by a pink chain.
Both his knees were pierced by the chain as it tightened around him like a snake.
The man stopped begging for mercy a while ago, his face growing paler as despair and acceptance replaced his hopes and resistance.
The man looked pitiful, his cheeks filled with dry tears, his throat dry from the screaming in pain and begging for mercy.
He believed that this…. Monster would truly kill him. Even if she found the Joker, he didn't believe he could survive.
He wasn't a heartless man, but he did many things that ignored the sufferings of others…. Blackmailing, killings, and theft were all fair game as long as it was for survival.
As long as he climbed the ranks, as long as he made a profit, and once the first line was crossed, everything else became a routine.
He would spare lives when it wasn't necessary to take them, but otherwise, he was a devil in a human skin.
Yet, that same man was whimpering and praying for a miracle.
And of course, it all became worse the moment he joined the Joker.
Survival…. That was what he used to justify everything for himself, but…. For once, feeling the unforgiving consequences of his actions arriving in the form of a pink abomination.
He regretted it….. He truly regretted it. He just wanted this nightmare to end.
'I just want to go home…. I just want this nightmare to end. I am so sorry, mama. I should have listened to you. I swear I would become a new man….. I just want to go home.'
'I am scared.'
But unfortunately for him, his nightmare would last a while longer.
(20 minutes later)
Once Pink arrived at the gate of some strange-looking bunker, she pulled her sword from her diamond and let the whimpering man fall to the ground.
She took a side stance, her empty stare locked on the bunker door while she gripped her sword tighter, and the next second, a sphere of vibrations formed at the top of the sword.
Her feet cracked the ground as her inhumane strength showed itself, and with a focused mind, the swing came in contact with the bunker entrance.
Strange cracks spread through the air as the door fell apart, while the ground started shaking with a small vibration passing through it.
Nothing devastating…. Yet.
Pink stepped inside the bunker as the debris covered everything, except the glowing empty eyes and the diamond that flashed once every few seconds.
It didn't take long as Pink was surrounded by men with weapons, all standing around her with weapons raised, some even.
A booming sound overcame the tunnel of the bunker as a few of the men threw several grenades, completely ignoring that it could kill or injure their comrades.
One of the men who threw the grenade ignored his comrades' shouts of anger and betrayal, as his eyes were locked with the smoke now covering the middle of the tunnel.
Some of the men started relaxing, but he saw it.
Amid the smoke…. A glowing irises were present and, what chilled his soul was that the eyes were locked with his.
'Another monster…. Since when did being a normal human become the rare end of the stick? It feels like monsters are raining these days.'
He felt his hands lower the rifle… He was old, almost fifty years. He didn't have the courage to face a being capable of withstanding bullets or grenades. His old soul was not young and blazing as it used to be.
As the chaos started unfolding around him, he felt bitterness and unwillingness rise in his chest.
'Was it so wrong that I wanted money to send my granddaughter to a good college? Was it wrong that I didn't want her to end up like me? A person with nothing to my name but an aching body that is failing me each year? Was it SO WRONG!.'
'What was so evil in my desperation that fate sent a monster like this my way?'
'Was it my mistake that my daughter died while that bat freak was fighting for justice! Was it my mistake!….. I don't understand what's so wrong about not having another choice.'
But the man's hand gripped his rifle as he aimed it, his old hand shaking in fear and desperation… In his mind, there was no chance such a powerful being would spare him.
'Tena, grandpa is sorry…. Maybe he should have stayed at construction work. I am sorry that I tried to give you more in such a terrible way…. Just to fail all the same…'
The old man's hands stopped shaking as his last family member flashed in his eyes…. He was scared, he was terrified, he wasn't a warrior, but for his granddaughter, he would see his mistake to the end.
As the smoke cleared, all the men saw the woman surrounded by a strange, huge shield with a rose-like sigil in the middle of it.
The next second, the shield became smaller until it was a size suitable for her arm.
Shouts and screams of pain erupted as many structures of small hands or small gauntlets that glowed pink formed in midair, which reminded a few of Green Lantern powers, as it charged at them.
Once the hands were close enough to a person, they changed shape as they formed a pink bubble that swallowed the men inside.
The bubbles were small, just enough not kill them, and those that tried resisting, once imprisoned, started screaming in pain as the pink bubble tightened around them, almost crushing them and breaking bones, leaving them in agony.
The tunnel turned into chaos as each person was chased down. Bullets erupted as men fought, frightened, few even shooting some of their own allies in the chaos and desperation.
In the midst of all of the chaos, Pink Diamond stood unmoving with that doll-like face, carrying an empty expression with an empty, yet glowing, eyes.
For those already bubbled who could see her…. It felt like she wasn't even there.
As she started moving forward, a shot hit her face as the old man, who was heaving with exhaustion, looked at her with smoke rising from his rifle.
Just beneath the old person lay a flickering Pink gauntlet, fractured and disappearing.
'Was this what Tena called old man strength? Because I don't know how I pulled this off.'
"In your face, freak!" the old man shouted as he emptied his rifle at the supernatural monster.
Through it all, Pink was still as a statue, the bullet doing no harm whatsoever, simply falling to the ground one after another.
Pink, who already stopped moving for a long moment, simply looking at the old man's eyes….. It was a look she knew too well: a desperation born from a sense of responsibility.
A desperation born from the knowledge that you are failing your family, that you are becoming a burden.
Pink's unconscious mind drifted as it heard her own voice from a very long time ago.
'Sometimes I just wonder if things would have been easier if I never existed.'
That thought didn't make sense; after all, he was the sole provider for his family after his father's passing, but the difficulties in life could always lead to depressing thoughts.
'Desperation'….. Pink's human soul was familiar with that feeling far too well.
Although Pink was in no state to think clearly, her body moved unconsciously as she took heavy steps towards the old man.
Once she was a few feet away and towering over the frail man, she stopped as she stared at his eyes.
Pink's unconscious state didn't see the frail state of his body, nor his despair and fear, or the whiteness of his hands as he gripped his rifle.
Nor did she register the old man's fingers pressing on the trigger, just to keep hearing the "Click" sound.
She only saw his eyes…. Behind the fear and acceptance…. She saw a look of fire she knew all too well… The flame that burned in Alfred's former life.
Pink unconsciously moved her hands to her cheeks as a drop of tears fell on her index finger, before she moved her hand to the old man's forehead.
The next second, the old man's body glowed and, when the light disappeared, although the man's appearance didn't change except his skin colour, which looked healthier.
But he knew otherwise…. He felt better, almost as good as his forties or thirties.
The main reason he started this kind of work is because he knew his body would not be able to keep working for long, especially at such a physical focused work.
Although he had good relationships with his boss and even considered him a good friend, he knew he couldn't keep it up.
So he decided to risk it, ignoring the risks, and try to make a big chunk in a few months or a year or two.
But now…. He can do it…. He was sure he could work long enough to support the college.
The old man looked up as he felt a hand patting his head and, for the first time, he didn't see a monster…. He saw that beautiful doll face as he felt tears start streaming down his face.
A few seconds passed as he was bubbled in a huge, more comfortable bubble and, as Pink touched the bubble again, it started floating away, leaving the bunker before popping outside.
Giving a man in difficult times a much-needed second chance.
Back inside the bunker, Pink's eyes stayed looking back to where the bubble left for a few seconds.
Before turning back to the other side, she started walking deeper while ignoring the other bubbled people's shouts.
(Back at the old warehouse)
A man wearing a green glowing ring floated above a warehouse…. Or whatever remained of it.
While his ring had a small transparent box with a pink lion lazing inside, enjoying the trip.
As he glanced at the men around with bleeding knees, his face turned slightly grim. He pressed a hand on the comms.
"Yeah, Batman…. Good news, I found where Pink went after the Gotham freak show…. Bad news?"
Green Lantern was silent for a few seconds as he glanced at Lion who, although completely unharmed, had blood covering him as he looked back on the state of things.
"The bad news is whatever the Joker did to anger our Pink princess…. Has worked… Worked too well, in my opinion."
"I have some ideas, but whatever happened…. I don't think the Joker would be laughing much if she found him before me…"
"Backup?… Nah, I don't need backup… Besides, Pink wouldn't hurt me. She is probably just angry, which I have a small idea of why she is… So I am sure I can cool her off…."
As he cut the comms off while dropping to the ground, Green Lantern needed to know where that pink bubble of joy left… And to try stopping her rampage before she brings another quake and reshapes the world maps.
"I swear, the world just gave a perfect face and then gave her earthquake-like powers… I would not want to be the man who breaks her heart…"
As Lantern laughed at his own joke before turning to the hurt men who, for some reason, looked at him with….. Joy?
(A/N): Dont forget to read my other works….So things are soon going to heat up but do give me ideas I would love to hear them!....
