Huo Feng listened intently as the pieces of the puzzle started to fall into place. "So, the solution you're talking about is the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile School's Heart Separation Control?".
Flender nodded, his expression serious. "Exactly. Heart Separation Control allows a Spirit Master to control different Spirit Abilities simultaneously. While this is a useful skill for anyone, it is absolutely vital for the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile School. You see, for most Spirit Masters, the more powerful a skill is, the more spirit power it drains. But for Rongrong's family, it's different."
He stepped closer to explain further. "At any given level, each of their Spirit Abilities consumes the exact same amount of spirit power. If Rongrong is a level 20 Spirit Grandmaster, both of her abilities might cost one unit of power. When she reaches level 30, her three abilities will still cost the same as each other, but the cost per ability might jump to two units because the buff itself is stronger. If she just dumps all her support skills at once, the drain is astronomical. Even a Titled Douluo would struggle to keep that up for long."
"Heart Separation Control solves this," Flender continued, gesturing with his hands. "In a real fight, everyone doesn't need the same buff at the same time. Giving full support to everyone is nice, but when your energy is limited, you have to be precise. You give the right boost to the right person at the exact second they need it. That's how the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda truly shines."
Flender then broke down the levels of the technique. "From what I know, there are five realms: the Three Aperture Governing Heart, Four Aperture Constant Heart, Five Aperture Dispersing Heart, Six Aperture Harmonious Heart, and Seven Aperture Exquisite Heart. Each level tells you how many abilities and targets you can handle at once. The Three Aperture Governing Heart lets you manage three skills for three targets simultaneously. The Four Aperture level moves that up to four, and so on."
He paused, looking at Huo Feng with a calculating glint in his eyes. "For most Spirit Masters, this isn't very helpful because they don't have enough energy to use all their skills at once anyway. That's why the technique is almost forgotten outside of the Ning family. Rongrong, I want you to reach the Four Aperture Constant Heart before the grand finals. Can you do that?".
Rongrong stuck out her tongue playfully. "Dean, you're amazing! That's almost exactly what my father said. He told me that to master our Spirit, I have to master this control. Don't worry, I'll work hard and hit that fourth level as fast as I can!".
Flender sighed softly, then turned back to Huo Feng. "I have a bit of a selfish motive for calling you here, too. Usually, this skill is useless for others, but you're different. Your Spirit Abilities allow you to switch forms, and the energy drain for each is very similar. Rongrong, if your school doesn't have a rule against it, could you let Huo Feng train this technique with you?".
"Of course!" Ning Rongrong agreed immediately, her eyes brightening. She had been looking for a reason to spend more time alone with Huo Feng, and this was the perfect excuse. Huo Feng saw no reason to refuse and nodded his agreement.
By that afternoon, the two of them were deep in the woods, beginning their training. The method wasn't overly complex, but it required intense focus. Rongrong practiced by releasing her different skills at different speeds and durations, trying to make the control feel like second nature.
She turned to Huo Feng to give him some advice. "To master this, you need to be able to see everything happening at once. Start simple. Pick three objects in different directions and keep switching your eyes between them. Each time you look at one, switch your Spirit form and attack it. Try to keep exactly one second between each attack."
The goal was to reach a point where every tiny change in the environment was under their control. It was all about multitasking and keeping mental force focused even when it was divided. This was actually easier for Huo Feng than most. He was already used to switching forms to counter his enemies' attributes in battle. Still, as the training progressed, his brow furrowed in concentration.
Rongrong noticed his struggle and leaned in with a faint smile. "It's not easy, is it? Three Aperture Governing Heart means using your heart to perceive everything. Don't just look with your eyes. All living things and all natural attributes exist in this same space. Once you feel how they all connect, dividing your heart into three parts becomes much more natural".
Huo Feng took her words to heart. He closed his eyes and stood perfectly still. Rongrong stopped talking and just watched him quietly. Soon, he entered a deep state of cultivation. Using that spark of insight, he managed to grasp the Three Aperture Governing Heart level in just a single day.
Over at Lanba Academy, the atmosphere was much different. Tang San was performing his daily routine, carefully massaging Yu Xiaogang's back and feet.
"Teacher, our academy doesn't have a match tomorrow," Tang San said softly. "But I saw that the Shrek team is scheduled to play. Should we go and watch them?".
