Chapter 139 - An Extreme Evil Spirit

Supernatural events in this world are different from anywhere else you might go; one is more irregular than the other. But many of them have a certain consistency regarding how the events unfold.

In some cases, the evil spirits that torment the living have always had a cause and effect behind why their behavior is malicious.

At the same time, their appearance and possession are not unfounded. In comparison to demons that come directly from Hell and have their own bodies, the evil spirits that have been lingering in the world of the living are inherently weaker and need to go through three globally known stages before they can fully possess human beings and control their bodies and consciousness.

So to speak, these stages are three.

The initiation stage is when humans enter a place, territory, or dark zone that triggers the appearance of one or many evil spirits.

Once marked, the moment of the evil spirit's appearance comes, and it begins by making slight noises, understandable whispers, footsteps, tugs on the victim's body, and starts draining their positive energy.

In that stage, the cursed spirit wears down its victim. Common people tend to lose patience, wondering—now that they know something invisible is appearing in their home—when everything will stop, what the true fear is that they might end up facing.

Personally, if he had been in that situation in his previous life, he would have been afraid. Because if he cannot fight something he cannot touch, that would surely be a losing battle.

His thoughts about these matters were: if he encountered a ghost that tormented him to death, once dead he would take it upon himself to kill whatever took his life. If something exists that cannot be seen, the chances of becoming that same thing are high.

But now he didn't think the same, because the third stage is, in fact, possession.

From the information revealed in the three pieces of evidence given by Ed Warren, it is clear that this evil spirit is about to enter the third stage, which is possession, and knowing how strong it is, they must not waste time.

If this process is completed, that means the evil spirit will take control of Daniela's consciousness and, in simple terms, the life of whoever it controls will be in mortal danger.

"Although you are recognized by the church, you must go through the church headquarters to request an exorcism license. But seeing the situation and that something very dark is inviting me, there's no time to waste." Jonathan maintained his calm, as if what was happening wasn't a great surprise to him.

"Are you sure about that?" Ed Warren didn't believe he was speaking to an ordinary priest; because of what his daughter had said, Jonathan was very skilled.

"I am an Exorcist priest, Mr. Warren. I have the authority to do it for the safety of the victims, so it's better if I take immediate action."

Jonathan's answer was sincere; as a ShadowBane, he had the authority and the right to perform any exorcism without authorization.

"[Mission in progress…

Class: Medium Elimination/Exorcism

Request:

Reward: +10 general strength points, +5 Spirit points, skill enhancement.]"

While Jonathan spoke with Ed Warren, he heard that sudden mechanical sound, and soon the panel appeared before his eyes with the mission being recognized.

That meant he would receive rewards for his intervention, and from the looks of it, the reward was so high that it would put him in a very favorable situation.

"I'll take this mission…" Not being obliged to accept missions, Jonathan could refuse them and nothing would happen. But this time was different; he could not ignore a mission because he wasn't in this world to play.

He had been sent to this parallel world with a mission, so he would not rest until he believed he had fulfilled his objective.

At the same time, Ed's surprised voice came from the phone. "Father Jonathan, it would be fantastic if you could come as soon as possible. The address is my current home, you should write it down…"

After writing the address on the wooden box, he stood up and, seeing Wednesday in the distance, pointed at all the mess on the floor.

Wednesday, seeing Jonathan so serious, thought something bad had happened, so when she approached the mess her expression immediately became solemn and she began to carefully clean all those objects.

As Jonathan headed toward a room where he had changed clothes a moment ago, he asked a question: "Is your wife with you?"

"Yes, Lorraine is beside me…" Ed answered, and a few minutes later a feminine voice sounded: "Father Jonathan, I'm listening."

"Everyone in these fields recognizes your abilities, but having personal experience I want to tell you that this time you are not facing a weak evil spirit. I have suppressed that cursed spirit before, so perhaps something far worse is waiting for me in your home, something you have not noticed yet." Jonathan looked at his hand, which was darkened due to the recorder's explosion, so he warned: "The only thing you can do is stay out of the way and wait for my arrival. If you get involved beyond what you can control, you will die."

"Yes, Father Jonathan…" Lorraine understood what he meant, so she responded positively.

"If there is any danger, just hold a cross or any object with positive energy." Jonathan said as he put on his Exorcist Priest suit again and put on his boots.

"But don't worry, until that Evil Spirit fully possesses Daniela in that house, no one will die."

"Then we'll wait for you."

After hanging up, Jonathan looked at Father Doug, who entered followed by agents, and said: "We're leaving, but first take me home, we need more equipment."

"What kind of spirit?" Doug asked as they walked toward the car.

Jonathan frowned and said: "Very high, maybe even extreme…"

"Do you have permission?"

"I don't need permission."

"What do I do?" Wednesday wanted to participate.

"Look for tracks or visions when we arrive, I will trust you."

Maybe this would be a problem for someone else, but he was Jonathan Belmot, who many believed would take the position of family head at some point.

After leaving the place, Jonathan made a call: "This is Father Jonathan Belmont. I will take a job in the outskirts, so I will be absent for a few days. In general, Light agents are not needed, but I will bring my personal team to support if necessary."

"What is your confirmation code?"

Jonathan sighed and said: "One, ninety, eighty-nine, three, zero."

In this world, the church was something like a very powerful organization that controlled the entire dark world. With funding from world governments, its job was to eliminate any dark being no matter where they were.

"We've arrived, sir!" Doug said as he parked the vehicle.

"Do you have your uniform?"

"Yes, sir!"

Jonathan nodded and said: "Go in and prepare coffee; we have a long trip."

As they both entered the house, Jonathan walked toward the basement again to get more weapons. Under normal circumstances, to eliminate a spirit that has not yet possessed a body, it is not necessary to exorcise something that is not in a human body.

For someone like Jonathan, the best means are the sacred bullets made of silver and salt.

And what better than his Parker A-1 Special shotgun of Tsar Nicholas II, an exact but improved replica of this weapon that in his memories had been a gift from his parents.

Since he needed to use modified bullets, shotguns were the best option to deal with physical or non-corporeal monsters.

Of course, Jonathan would bring other things such as his light sword, which he only used in extreme cases since it consumed him greatly to use it.

Jonathan, holding the shotgun, walked toward a display case where there was a row of special bullets, took about thirty bullets, and after placing them in the chamber of the double-barrel shotgun, he loaded it in one pull.

"Well, let's go hunt evil spirits…" Jonathan murmured with a wide smile.
